Tressi made our too-brief stay in NYC really wonderful. Breakfast was delicious, the room more than comfortable, but really, it was Tressie herself who made us feel right at home. She had great suggestions and looked out for us from start to finish. When I visit NYC again, I will DEFINITELY be staying with Tressi!

Stayed at the heart of Harlem for four nights with my wife. It is a beautiful old building and our room was full of character. Located only ten mins walk from a subway station where the line brings you straight to the centre of new york and all the tourist attractions. We used the subway quite a lot and always... More

My daughter and I were going on a quick adventure to NYC and were looking for a place to stay that wasn't the typical hotel experience but also wasn't hideously expensive. After hours of reading blogs and reviews I had pretty much resigned myself to staying in a hotel. Then I found reviews about Heart of Harlem B&B. They all... More

Fantastic B&B hosted by Tressi and Dwight who make you feel at home the minute you arrive. The renovated Brownstone is a work in progress but is charming and homey. All original woodwork and floors are a great site. Very pleasant breakfast conversation with fellow travelers further enhances your stay. Continental style breakfast but plentiful with lot's of variety. Talking... More

Stayed 4 nights with my sister in this wonderful old warm stylish house. When returning to New York I feel we have a home to return to. We have visited New York before staying at hotels more to the centre of the city however, this time we found the real Soul of New York in this safe and most welcoming... More

Neighborhood Profile
Harlem
As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has played a vital role in the history of New York City. Today, the neighborhood is as vibrant as ever as new businesses and developments go up next to local institutions. The heart of the neighborhood is bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and you’ll discover some of the most beautiful blocks in the city, filled with handsome brownstones, soul food restaurants, corner shops, and scenic parks. For a taste of a real New York neighborhood, it’s hard to top a visit to Harlem.
