We stayed at The Union Square Inn for 3 nights at the beginning of June 2008 at the height of the heat wave and the air con, which was efficient but noisy, and fan were very welcome. The location is great but our room was very dark because the window was on to an alley but it was clean and... more

Got back from Manhattan yesterday. We were guest at the USI for 3 nights. Friendly and pleasant staff (including breakfast lady!!), had a problem with the TV (no reception) problem fixed within 30 min. Keep in mind this is a budget hotel; no elevators, small rooms (width of a double bed plus 18 inches) but the rooms are clean including... more

Pros: Best shower I've ever used in my life. Clean. Cozy. I stayed in a standard single room w/ a double bed. It was the tiniest room I've ever seen in my life. Was only wide enough for the double bed. No nightstand -- had to use a chair for my alarm clock. No elevator (I think it has 5... more

My husband and I are 20-somethings who love to spend a long weekend in New York every year. NYC hotels are always outrageously priced and worn out, but I excuse it as part of the ambience. I found this hotel, probably on tripadvisor, and skulked around online a little before committing. We ended up paying $200 per night, what with... more

came to stay for a night before go to a friends apt and brought bed bugs with me. the hotel was kind enough to refund my money after a hell of a fight but that doesn't help my friend who is paying 500 bucks to have his apt treated by a pest control company. stay away. bed bugs are the... more

In response to the guest complaint. The hotel is regularly checked by an extermination company due to the high volume of travelers at this time. we found that the guest stayed in room 105 and we had the exterminators checked and responded appropriately. there were no signs of, or bed bugs found in the room we checked rooms next door...

This place books up early and it's easy to see why. The rooms are clean, staff is friendly (except the breakfast ladies - don't arrive early!), and the location is wonderful (close to restaurants, shops, public transit, etc.). It is a budget hotel, however, so don't expect spa-like bathrooms and plush furnishings. I would definitely stay here again but would... more

We stayed here for 5 nights...and I would absolutely stay here again. The price was perfect...the service was fantastic...and the location was just what we were looking for. The little cafe was cute and always stocked with more than enough bagels, danishes and coffee (and being lactose intolerant I was very happy to see Coffee Mate!) We felt very safe... more

Union Square advertises itself online as a "boutique hotel" with reasonable rates in NYC. Well, the rates were reasonable, that's for sure. The hotel is very much a no-frills place. I did not realize when I booked it that the hotel did not even have an elevator for customers to use. My friend and I got a room on the... more

$159/night in a great Manhattan location seemed too good to be true, but Union Square Inn is definitely better than most budget hotels in the city. The property is no-frills - no elevator (although someone was available to help with luggage), the breakfast room is tiny with the meal consisting of cartons of OJ and tupperware trays of bagels and... more

We stayed at the "UNION SQUARE INN", New York City, April 2008. We were first attracted by the "value" of the hotel. The hotel reminds me of a "European style" type. Meaning, it is a smaller scale hotel. The rooms are not spacious, but extremely cleaning and comfortable. The hotel prides itself with this status! The hotel staff (everyone!) was... more
