We stayed here because it's proximity to NYU Hospital for Joint Disease is just around the corner, walking distance. The hotel is small and quaint, rooms are neat and clean, a little tight. The bathroom is not for a large person, but we were fine. The bed was comfortable, nice big tv. The location is good if you want to... More

We selected this hotel for a couple of nights during our honeymoon and we were very satisfied with the choice. The location is great, right in between Central Park and Battery Park you might say, which gives you lots and lots of city exploring options. The staff was very welcoming and helpful and the room was clean and had what... More

Of significance when picking a place to stay in New York City is location, especially in February when temperatures can dip to near 0. Hotel Verite offers a clean and reasonable experience within walking distance to Flatiron, shops, restaurants nearby universities and Union Square. This trip we needed to be near these places. Hotel Verite provided a good product smack... More

A group of us stayed in January 2015 for a business trip. A great base in New York City, tidy rooms and no complaints. Our trip suffered at the hands of the snow blizzard, but the staff were friendly and helpful throughout.

I stayed here for a few nights and what struck me the most was the staff. They were all polite, helpful and happy, whatever the time of day. I got a room at a competitive rate - make sure you book early. The only downside is the subway on Broadway. In the higher numbered rooms you can hear this throughout... More

The room was by no means comparable to the internet presentation and rouined our stay in new york completely. The furniture was extremely worn and old. The carpets and wall paper dirty. The room had only a dirty window facing a brick wall, so it could not be opened. Additionally, the air con was turned off. After two nights we... More

Pros: Great price, location, restaurant, comfortable bed. Cons: The room (#303) was quite cold, and they provided a space heater - which was nice - but I really didn't like the idea of having it on all night while I slept which lent to me being freezing when I woke up. The subway line is right by this room -... More

My 14 yr. old son and I stayed at Verite for the week of New Years. We really liked our room on the 4th floor facing Broadway--with windows. Hello Lana B, What a very detailed testimony of your experience with us. Thank you for leaving your thoughts. Yes, the central heating system can be tricky. Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
