My son and I stayed at the Chelsea Star for five nights in late July, and had a very positive experience there. Very helpful, friendly staff. Excellent location. Nice rooms. When we first arrived, we were told that the basic double room we had booked was not available, so we were upgraded to a suite. Very nice! After 3 nights... More

Pros: awesome location (a block from penn station, 20 min walk from Times Square, 10 min walk from high line park, near many subway lines). Service awesome- all people were super friendly and extremely helpful. Also the rooms are very clean and the bed was really comfy. Also it was pretty quiet in the morning (no street noises woke us... This is a budget hotel. It's a place to sleep. About 10 blocks from times square and very close to Penn station. We got one of the newly renovated rooms. We got a Jr suite which has 2 double beds, couch (pull out). Also a flat screen TV and free wireless. Like I said it's under construction. There is a... More

We stayed at the Chelsea Star hotel on our first trip to NYC. The service was good and the rooms were well maintained. We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms with a private bathroom. We are glad we picked that option as restrooms in general in NYC are a commodity. They are far and few as far as public... More

Hotel advertised internet special if you prepaid, which I did . We booked a suite with 2 beds and private bath. I was told that these were "newly " renovated rooms with all new furnishings . Ha ! When we arrived , we could hardly find the entrance . The building looked like a construction site with a small metal... More

Very handy - close to Madision Square Garden, so close to the Subway, Trains (airport - New Jersey) and the Metrobus (coaches to many major cities Philadelphia, Boston, Washington etc. Rooms are very basic - Bed and small TV. No chair or table so should you decide to eat in your room, then you'll have to balance everything on your... More
