I stayed in a dorm room, there were no lockers, but definetely it was not a problem. A little too small when the room is full because everybody gets too much luggage.. but it's ok. I met some really nice guys from Israel, Germany and Spain.. and we've had some fun together. The staff was really very nice, helpful and... more
Our first impressions from outside of the hotel was OH MY GOD what have we let ourselves in for, as basically it was a secured blue door with a flower stall next to it. We pressed the buzzer and was admitted into the building, I struggled up a steep flight of stairs with both my friend's case and my own... more
We stayed in the dorm for 4 nights. Mostly young travelers from all over the world (although this writer is over 55). For $30 a night, not a surprise! Management is very careful that everyone who stays there presents a passport; they make photocopies of the pictures so they know exactly who their guests are if there are any problems... more
I staid here with friends because they were low on cash so they staid in a the bunk rooms they had fun even though they were accused of not paying and were woken up at 830 am by staff cleaning the room but they were happy with the $35 a night stay, i had a privet room with bath tv... more
Stayed there numerous times in 5 years. Last time, the place seemed run down, even after remodeling. When I was there twice in the fall, they were friendly, upgraded my room and it was clean. The Chelsea star hotel is a... more
Absolutely my favorite hotel in New York City! If you are going to NYC on a budget . Located, just across Madison Square Garden,Penn station and the A C E subway lines. It's central to broadway and shopping areas.Although small in size, the unique themed rooms make up for alot! Great Staff cant wait to return. more
I spent three nights at Chelsea Star in a 8 bed dorm room. This was my first time staying in a hostel and I spent many hours on Trip Advisor reading reviews. The hostel was a very easy walk from Penn Station. The people at the front desk were cordial and kept my bags in an area until I could... more
Reviews on Tripadvisor were generally so positive that we thought we'd give this place a try. We checked in with no problem after booking on-line and requesting a quiet room because we were just getting back from a really, really long flight. The man at the desk told us that he upgraded us from a double room to a queen... more
