I stay at the Sofitel whenever I'm in New York, mainly due to the fantastic location. It's away from the hustle/bustle tourist hell of Times Square (but only a 10 minute walk away), 5th avenue is 1 minute away and the subways stations of 42nd St and Grand Central are both very close. The hotel itself is good, especially by... More

this was our 3rd visit to the Sofitel NYC, a small slice of France in the centre of manhattan. the rooms are well decorated and have all the necessary bits and bobs and the beds are wonderful , but it is the people that make this hotel outstanding. the location is terrific, walking distance to the theatre district and to... I checked in with my daughter at 7am, after taking the red-eye from the west coast. Our stay got off to a great start, when we permitted to get a room at that time ! Being a fitness enthusiast, it was not long before I was in the well-equipped gym. Our stay was for 3 days, and I had 3... More

I have stayed at the NYC Sofitel many times. I first found it by chance a number of years ago when attending a nearby conference. Unlike so many of NYC's hotels, it is a modern hotel with modern amenities. The beds are exquisitely comfortable and the sheets and comforters are heavenly. I would say that this is a 4.9 star... I have always wanted to stay at this property and I finally had the opportunity. I love to speak French and this was a delight. If you do not speak French it is still good, but might put you back just a bit. Great location. Easy walking distance to so many sites. Wonderful staff.

LOCATION: great location and walkable to just about everywhere. Close to 5th Ave & Maddison shops, Time Square, Broadway shows, Public Library, Bryant Park and Grand Central Station. There is plenty to eat around the hotel if you wish to avoid the hefty and bland room service meals and there is Jacks across the road if you are stuck for... More

I like Sofitels. Why wouldn't I? Service is great. The rooms are comfortable and pleasant. And those heavenly beds! Room service is a thing of your dreams. The myriad of extras are appreciated. I could go on but you get the idea. It's a Sofitel. Why stay somewhere else?

Very comfortable, nothing fancy. Helpful staff, clean and well appointed rooms, well located, not a bad price, good bar etc etc There are obviously far better hotels in New York, but if all you want is a comfortable roof over your head whilst you swan around NY, then this is a good choice. Didn't eat there or use the gym.... More

We (party of 4) recently stayed at this hotel and having stayed here some years ago found that standards have dropped. On arrival we were told our rooms were not ready and were told to come back a couple of hours later. The staff member at the front desk did not make us feel welcome even though we are gold... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
