This past weekend, three of us aged 18, 18, and 19 stayed at the Sofitel in a luxury suite with a sofa bed. At our arrival, the front desk could not find our reservation because my last name was misspelled and was questioning our reservation if it was even made. The woman basically pushed us aside to help other guests.... More

I don't have a bad word to say about this hotel. The rooms are beautiful and more then big enough which is a rarity in New York. Not to mention the size of the bathroom which is completly decked out with a lovely shower and steam proof appliances. The location is perfect, right in the middle of everything you need.... More

We stayed here for five nights recently and the whole experience was fabulous. We were warmly greeted by the reception staff and our rooms were huge by NY standards. Very high standard of cleanliness and attention to detail. I had requested a coffee machine and fridge and they came up immediately after check in. I had booked two rooms and... More

Lovely hotel with a fabulous location for first time visitors to New York. Room on 22nd floor had great open view. Surprisingly quiet at night too! Doormen, particularly William, were very helpful and happy to provide tips about where to go and organise taxis. Would definitely return.

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Very good quality food in the restaurant and the rooms well appointed and spotlessly clean. Very well located for places like Times Square and the Theatre district and 5 mins walk from Grand Central station. Nearest subway stations also no more than 5 mins walk and Empire state building also walkable.

This hotel is never a Sofitel: it looks more like a Mercure and feels service-wise like an Ibis. Per se, the hotel does not hold up to the minimum standard of a 5-star, let alone of luxury (as it styles itself). Take the rooms, for example, they tend to be small and dark, there is absolutely no sense of design,... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
