Had the worst experience here. It was traumatizing. They locked us out of our room at 2am, because they control the locks to the door. FYI there is NO ONE at reception, you're talking to an intercom. Then they tell us to meet them at 2AM at some random corner in NYC, with up front cash to pay for the... More

It was a good joke to call that place "Dream Apartments" - laughing out loud. First, it's not a hotel. It's a regular flat. When you come, you call via speakerphone and someone's voice tells you the flat number and a digital code to open the door lock. Tha flat itself looks like a bachelor's room (just no dirty socks... Where to start ... broken furniture (bed had only three legs and one thin cover), cold water only in shower which had broken taps, the (single) chair had a broken leg and could not be used (therefore we could not use cooking/eating facilities), blind was hung upside down and did not block light, windows etc were filthy, television not functioning... So just don't think of the Dream Apts. as a hotel. If you are a needy person, this place is not for you. If you are independent thinking, adventurous and want to stay in the best area in all of New York, this is your place. I had 2 rooms for 6 nights, with 3 people in each room. Not... More

Very unfriendly and unhelpful staff! They cancelled our reservation without let us know and lock the door when we arrived there! They didn't talk to us. Me and my girlfriend (21,17) arrived in NY from Europe one day later because of hurricane Irene. I send them two e-mails, but nobody respond. We call them and woogo.com and confirm our reservation... ... the apartments in this actual building might be fine, because although I booked one of them, I didn't get it. Upon arrival, you talk into this intercom at street level where some guy denies all knowledge of your booking and then when he eventually finds it, you get a classic bait and switch. The apartment booked is unavailable due... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
