Great staff. Had a skyline room on tenth floor. Not much to look at but nice to have a huge balcony for some air, comfortable bed. Small hotel, no crowds, very close to everything midtown. Nice change from large chain touristy hotels. Tenpenny great for drinks and a meal. Wonderful bartender. My room needed a full length mirror. Thats about... More

We stayed here during a last minute quick trip to NYC. Love that I found this hotel-it has a really nice balcony large windows we had a beautiful view. On to the not so good part- our air conditioning wasn't working but they did everything they could to help us out. We loved that they had a balcony in the... More

Stayed in The Gotham Hotel in January 2015, vacation time! The hotel is adorable! everything was perfect: well located, rooms very clean and comfortable, bathroom modern and new, but the shower took a little time to warm up. The restaurant (Tenpenny) is not that cheap, but the food is good and has a good customer service with friendly people. Internet... More

I was in New York for business and I chose this hotel because it was very close to the offices. The room wasn't ready when I arrived at 3:15 and I had to wait 15 minutes, but I wasn’t alone, another couple were waiting too, and the next day I noticed other guests had arrived and were waiting, and they... There was nothing drastically wrong with this hotel however being a boutique hotel I expected a bit more of a personal touch. The staff on arrival didn't welcome us to the hotel/NYC. It just felt like they were going through a process. I expected it to feel a bit more personal. May as well have stayed at a big chain.... More

The Gotham Hotel charged me $45 for a bottle of wine that I purchased at a local liquor store and brought to my room. Their housekeeping staff claimed I took it from the mini bar. I have left four messages with the manager, but no one has returned my call. This is an unbelievable scam! Do not stay here.

This hotel doesn't deserve a star. Terrible customer service, cancelled a reservation with them over the phone and weeks later they still charged me for a stay I never came for! Make sure they give you a cancel reference over the phone, cancellation confirm through email, and document every call otherwise they will completely rip you off!

I found this hotel on a discount website that revealled the name after purchase. What a nice surprise! Located within walking distance of broadway, 5th Ave, Grand Central, yet on a quiet block. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. We had a rear facing room that was so quiet we slept long past our usual wake up time. Decor is basic... More

Cleanliness and Rooms are great, Great Staff, I did get a big deal on February so it was great value for Money. I would stay again here definitely. Only downside was safe deposit (was closed and had to ask front desk to come and open it)

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
