I've never stayed in this part of town before, but had been to New York a few times. Mostly I'd stayed in lower east side and/or Greenwich village area (now too touristy). This B&B in a most lovely quiet part of Harlem couldn't have been better, and I'm now decided this area is much more interesting and the B& B... More

This was our first time in New York City and we sure picked the right place to stay. From the moment we walked in it felt like home away from home. Located in the lovely & quite neighbourhood of Harlem only minutes walk from the subway. Each morning we would have a coffee, muffin and a chat in the large... More

For me it was the first time I stayed in NY. And from the very first moment I loved the spacious kitchen, the tasty art things in the house, the modern and clean bathroom, morning sun in my lovely warm room in the 3rd floor. Heidi and Tom had been marvellous hosts, always helpful with good advises and over all... More

What a stay! Been in New York quite often through the years, but this time was special. Of course you could choose a downtown hotel for your stay. But why not try the place of Heidi and Tom? Spacious rooms, Harlem neighborhood, close to the subway to get downtown within 15 minutes. But more than that: friendly hosts, Heidi and... More

Heidi and Tom have created an amazing accommodation in a quiet yet convenient location. My wife and I have stayed in dozens (if not hundreds) of hotels, B&B's, apartments over the years. This is a unique property. Spotlessly clean, tastefully refurbished, and our top-floor room was spacious with a large comfortable bed and efficient shower. A light breakfast was more... More

If you are looking for a nice trip to New York there are thousands of brochures which will offer you a very similar experience and it will come at a price. To me all the hotels look very similar and if I dare say it, they look a little bland. But if you want a holiday with a difference you... More

We've just left Heidi & Tom, Jodie & Eileen and it feels like we have just left old friends! Great location, value for money, calm, warm atmosphere, beautifully renovated house, absolutely amazing! We stayed for two weeks for the NY marathon and Heidi even broke out a celebratory Prosecco for us on our return from the race! We'll never forget... More

We are a couple from the Netherlands and wanted to visit NY somewhat different then booking the standard hotel in lower Manhattan. So we decided to step outside of our "comfort zone" and book an B&B. Due to the reviews on Tripadvisor we opted for Easyliving-Harlem. I must say, I have only one regret... and that is the fact that... More

Heidi & Tom are very friendly, welcoming people. They help you with map and great recommandations for restaurants and places to go in Harlem. Safe and quiet neighbourhood Heidi speaks perfectly french and german ! We stayed in the bedroom with private bathroom and bow window, very clean and lot of space, with a king sized bed and air conditioning.... More

you MUST go there. The house is 100 years old, you can imagine how lovely it is, the rooms are large, cosy and nicely decorated. The aera is nice. It's quiet, away from the downtown noise and yet not so far away (the subway, which you reach after 5 minutes walking, takes you the center in 20 minutes). You can... More

Staying in Harlem

Neighborhood Profile
Harlem
As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has played a vital role in the history of New York City. Today, the neighborhood is as vibrant as ever as new businesses and developments go up next to local institutions. The heart of the neighborhood is bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and you’ll discover some of the most beautiful blocks in the city, filled with handsome brownstones, soul food restaurants, corner shops, and scenic parks. For a taste of a real New York neighborhood, it’s hard to top a visit to Harlem.
