Unfortunately I only have two good points.... This b&b is so close to the metro and it takes about 15 minutes to get to the centre of NYC. The owners are incredibly nice and friendly. The place is filthy and can do with a spot of renovation to be honest. The 'breakfast' was only available if they had remembered to... More

If friendliness compensates for cleanliness then this place is OK. Could be cleaner & the breakfast consists of cornflakes with sporadic appearances of milk and bread. Empty bottles under bed a mystery.

Yolanda is very friendly :-) whole house could be cleaner.. but ok. breakfast is to make by yourself which is in general no problem but it is when the milk is empty and the butter old. 1min to subway!!

I planned to stay here with a friend at the beginning of May. We told we would arrive at 6, but when we came at that time the room was not ready yet, and the owner seemed overwhelmed by having to do 3 rooms in one day. The whole place is rather old fashioned, and not in a good shape.... More

I stayed in this B&B for three nights in May 2013. The area is nice and overall safe, with some good places where to enjoy live music. However, I wasn't very happy with my experience at this B&B: my bedroom was untidy, dirty and smelly. I found bedbugs crawling around and I spent the four days of my stay making... More

We visited the Thomas Family B&B in the middle of May. We stayed for 3 nights and I don't think that we could have chosen a better place. The bed and breakfast is in the back of a townhouse in Harlem. Well located approximately 100m from a Subway station you will definitley be impressed by what you find here. The... More

There is no internet access either Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable in the bed and breakfast at all. I used up a day of my holiday running around in a strange city sorting out a usb dongle ( $141 it cost ) for internet access as I had to work. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The bed and breakfast is in... More

Staying in Harlem

Neighborhood Profile
Harlem
As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has played a vital role in the history of New York City. Today, the neighborhood is as vibrant as ever as new businesses and developments go up next to local institutions. The heart of the neighborhood is bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and you’ll discover some of the most beautiful blocks in the city, filled with handsome brownstones, soul food restaurants, corner shops, and scenic parks. For a taste of a real New York neighborhood, it’s hard to top a visit to Harlem.
