This is a super chic hotel. I felt the staff was incredibly friendly ! They have beautiful lounging areas. The rooftop at Jimmy's was so much fun. Another nice feature is that they have beautiful ART throughout the hotel.

I spent 5 nights in the James and i must say, really- New York living! The room was nice and clean and very tastefully decorated. I gotten a room on the 17th floor and wasnt bothered about the noise from the mechanical room. Didnt get any disturb from the rooftop bar either. The rooftop bar is a must visit!

The hotel is very nice and so was our corner room. Spectacular views. Sadly, the service was mediocre at best. We didn't get our room until 4 pm (!) and to make things worse, my credit card was charged twice for the stay. The shower was quite nice but didn't drain at all without help from engineering. Each time I... More

The James was recommended to us by our U.S. based family and lived up or exceeded all our expectations. The staff were outstanding throughout our stay and this included a "fire" issue in the basement. During that time, when we had fire trucks and firemen all over the downstairs lobby, the staff remained efficient and friendly and helpful in all... More

The James is a very cool hotel with a rooftop pool and bar except as a guest of the hotel one is treated like a second class citizen. The hotel does not own the pool but fail to advertise this. One afternoon about 8 guests were by the pool at 4pm and were asked to leave because they wanted to... More

Stayed for one night. Had a corner king. Great bright room with comfortable beds and good linen. Get a high floor and avoid level 17 as the roof top bar opens to the public at night and gets very loud. Gym is small and hot and needs to be cleaned more often.

We could not rate the James hotel highly enough! From the moment we arrived we have experienced nothing but the best. Great hotel in a great location. Easy access to the red line on the NYC subway. Quiet rooms, great views. Good for kids. One complaint: The rooftop pool was rented out all three nights we were there so that was a bummer that the kids didn't go swimming. Would stay here again.

I booked the James in Soho as a last minute birthday present for my husband. we arrived early, but were still able to check in. I had booked a Deluxe room as I prefer a bigger bed, and I knew my husband would appreciate a better view. We weren't disappointed. We headed straight up to the rooftop pool and enjoyed... More

We stayed here this weekend on staycation. We are New Yorkers but wanted a mini-getaway with a pool. Let's start with the pool. It is the smallest rooftop pool I have ever seen. I am not sure if it is heated at all, but the water is freezing. No one could even use it all morning because it was so... More
