My wife and I stayed at the James Hotel for two nights while we were taking our daughter to school at NYU. While the hotel was certainly hip and generally well appointed, there were a lot of things that missed the mark if they are considering themselves a luxury property. 1. Robes in bathroom were tattered and missing belt loops.... More

Stayed here for one night with my husband as we were having some renovations done to our home and had to get out for one night. One of the main reasons we booked was because of the rooftop pool - which looked so amazing in the pictures. Unfortunately, the pool was the size of an extra-large hot tub and the... More

Just had a great stay at The James. It's a wonderful little retreat in lower Manhattan. Easy access to SoHo, West Village, Chinatown, Little Italy and Tribeca. Their outside areas are like a little get away in the urban jungle. There was one little service issue and it was taken care of with speed and great apology. Little things happen... More

Came for my husband's 40th. Held a private party at the rooftop. Service was awful. Elevator situation is annoying, waiting over 10 min at certain times. The room service food was pitiful. Was supposed to receive $25 in credit for a special promo for having other friends stay here…hotel staff had no idea what I was talking about. Hookers in... More

Dear mikensmama, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback about your recent stay with us.It’s disappointing to hear that you didn’t have a flawless experience. Lapses in service are unacceptable and will be address. This is not typical of the first impression we strive to provide, especially for the guests celebrating special occasions. Kindly be... More

A good hotel conveniently located in soho just a couple of blocks away from all the shops and actions. The hotel itself is nice enough with a lot of smart design touches (love the computer keyboard wall) and tasteful fine art display in public space. Great top floor bar and also gym with amazing view of the Liberty Tower. The... More

I recently stayed at the James. It is a wonderful hotel, large enough to offer great amenities but small enough to feel cozy and warm. The staff really make you feel cared for, particularly the concierge Morgan Kelly. He took me to my room, a gorgeous corner king with amazing views of the Freedom Tower, and then showed me the... The James is located in Soho near the corner of 6th and Grand... steps away from a number of wonderful restaurants and boutique shopping. The hotel is clean and comfortable. But the best part of this hotel is the staff. From the moment we arrived, we were pampered... The always smiling staff was helpful with everything from suggestions for dining... More

I had the happy opportunity to stay at The James New York last week, only overnight (but I would have loved to stay longer!). I had a gorgeous corner room, with a great view of the city and the Freedom Tower. Very comfortable room and amenities. Possibly the nicest "minibar" ever--you could have a nice party in your room and... More

We live in Manhattan and thought it would we fun to stay downtown to celebrate a special occasion rather than going back to our home uptown at the end of the evening. Needless to say, at this price point my expectations were high since it would have been easy to disappoint us considering we could have just gone home. But... More

Staying in SoHo

Neighborhood Profile
SoHo
Once the artistic hub of New York, SoHo is now one of the premiere shopping destinations in the world. Housing everything from the most popular luxury brands to swank boutiques you won’t find anywhere else, this is a sophisticated shopper’s dream come true. Broadway is teeming with big-name stores and people during the day, while Prince and Spring Streets are the other main drags to explore. Take a detour down the quieter side streets to see the real star of the district – the world’s largest collection of intricate and elegant cast-iron architecture. What were once warehouses and art studios are now meticulously restored loft buildings favored by many of New York’s celebrities, making SoHo one of the trendiest addresses in the city.
