One of my favorite hotels in the city. Love staying in the soho area, yet get an added bonus of being in a high rise hotel. I would love to stay here again the next time I visit. Location: While it’s only a slight walk to the shops in soho, there’s really not much of anything adjacent to the hotel... More

The service from the hotel was one of the best I've had. The employees are very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is on the newer side but not brand new. It is located on the edge of Soho and Chinatown and is very walkable if you are in decent shape. The neighborhood itself is very safe. The rooms are... More

This hotel is very overpriced for what you get. The room is cold and uncomfortable, quite stoic in design. There is no soft place to even sit except the bed which was squeaky. When I returned home, I found that I had a jewelry bag missing. When I called the hotel to see if it was there, the girl on... More

We stayed at The James for 3 nights in June and would highly recommend this hotel. The staff are welcoming without being too over the top, the concierge recommended some excellent places for dinner, the room had a fantastic view, the rooftop bar Jimmy also has a great view (and is easy to get into before 9pm if you're a... Fabulous staff, fabulous hotel, fabulous restaurant. We stayed here for the first time this past weekend. This is our NYC hotel from now on. We spend 5-6 weekends a year in NOLA and we always stay at the Loews. The James is a much nicer place, but it has that same vibe. As far as the David Burke Kitchen ...... More

I had the pleasure of meeting a long time friend in NYC for exactly 26 hours and chose The James New York because of the location and amenities on site. We spent four nights at the hotel while we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. We were upgraded to a king corner room which overlooked downtown Manhattan and the Freedom Tower. We also received a bottle of champagne. The evening wine and cheese was a hit with us as was the morning coffee and muffins. The only really odd thing in... More

I used to stay at other hotels in Soho area, this is my first time to stay at The James New York, I am quite happy with the friendliness of the staff of the hotel. The rooms are as shown on the internet, a decent size and comfortable.

Room was very good, all other areas were impersonal and un-welcoming. Staff just painted pemanently with fake smile, no real interest in caring for guests. Hotel staff lacked mature experienced guidence

Dear mrmarka2015, Thank you for sharing the details of your stay at The James. The lapses in service are totally unacceptable and will be addressed the team. This is not typical of the first impression we strive... More

Staying in SoHo

Neighborhood Profile
SoHo
Once the artistic hub of New York, SoHo is now one of the premiere shopping destinations in the world. Housing everything from the most popular luxury brands to swank boutiques you won’t find anywhere else, this is a sophisticated shopper’s dream come true. Broadway is teeming with big-name stores and people during the day, while Prince and Spring Streets are the other main drags to explore. Take a detour down the quieter side streets to see the real star of the district – the world’s largest collection of intricate and elegant cast-iron architecture. What were once warehouses and art studios are now meticulously restored loft buildings favored by many of New York’s celebrities, making SoHo one of the trendiest addresses in the city.
