We stayed at Sanctuary on Stanton for two weeks in December 2014. Our stay was without a doubt one of the best we've had in New York, and we've stayed in many, many hotels, chain, budget, boutique, etc. Our room was spacious and very clean with all amenities provided - Towels, linens, shampoo, soap. There was a full kitchen in... More

We are a family of five and stayed five nights in Sita. The place is perfect, nice location in Lower East Side, close to good restaurants and not far from Wholefoods and Essex Market. The apartment is very clean, beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. Heating worked very well. Enough space for five persons. We will... More

Huge apartment, very nicely furnished, renovated and very clean. You can really experience NYC leaving in this place. Many good restaurants in walking distance. If you are lucky enough, you can park your car on the street. A part of rent is going to a non profit organization called Food for life, who feeds homeless people. During your stay, you are invited... More

Firstly this guest house is right next door to the hells angel but didn't seem to be a problem. After hour Arrive was no issue as they waited for us. The heater in the room didn't work but the next day provided with portable heaters which did the trick. Unfortunately the TV didn't work and after multiple requests this issue... More

The awesomely funky lower east side is best experienced from Sanctuary New York City suites. Our Queen suite included a really comfortable queen bed with cozy duvet, it fully appointed kitchen and separate bathroom with shower but not bath and a rollout folding bed for the third guest. The heating was ample and the room included a little tiny patio... More

Good room. Good facilities. Helpful staff. Free yoga! Well located. Great local bars and restaurants. Get breakfast as included. Nearby convenience stores. You could also look at the older rooms at different location. If you are fit (no lifts at that one) then you can get a top floor apartment with rooftop table and chairs with views across New York.... First time staying here, and I will definitely be back. Great value for what you get. Quite neighbourhood, its nice to come back to your room after a busy day in the city and its just a short walk to the subway where the F train will take you to all the main stops. Wholefoods is about a 15 min... More

This place seemed to good to be true! The price was very reasonable; my first encounter with the staff via e-mail, phone and in person was professional and friendly; the location was great - easy to find and the neighbourhood seemed safe. The rooms had a great design and the whole atmosphere was a complete contrast from the hustle and... More

We just returned from a 6 night stay, and were very pleased with our overall experience. The kitchen was not open during our stay, so we cooked our own breakfast's. There are many fine restaurant's in the area. Our favorite was MasalaWala Indian restaurant on Essex, near Houston. Our only complaint's were the air conditioning was excessively loud, and the... We got a pretty good price for the King suite, and couldn't believe how beautiful the apartment was when we arrived. Tons of space for four people including the huge outside patio. Gorgeous big kitchen with modern appliances, lots of storage and very comfy beds. We liked the fact that it was meat free. The staff are wonderful, very cheery... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
