A lovely haven in a busy town. Perfect rooms with all you need and more. Very kind and helpful staff and a nice atmosphere. Best place in East Village, close to SoHo and the surroundings. Would visit again anytime!

The hotel was really nice and central. The balcony was perfect and staff very helpfull and kind. Price was unbeatable when travelling a family of 5. The kitchen area was super for a common breakfast and planning of the daily sightseeing

Sanctuary was better than we even expected. We got an amazing price and I kept thinking something had to be horribly wrong with the place for that price....quite the opposite! It was perfect. We had a late arrival on a Saturday night and Mario made sure everything was seamless and he was waiting there for us and ensured we had... More

We stayed in the Buddha suite and could not have had a lovelier place to stay while we were in New York for the week. From the moment we arrived late in the evening from Norway to the early morning taxi pickup on our way to Washington Dc the staff helped make our stay stress free and fantastic, everyone was... Great quiet location for a NYC holiday. Easy access to the Subway for a very quick and easy trip to Time Square etc. Great afordable resturants near by as well as all other types of shops and activities. We have three teenagers and the size of the rooms - one queen one king and a roll away was perfect for... More

We stayed at Sanctuary on Stanton for two weeks in December 2014. Our stay was without a doubt one of the best we've had in New York, and we've stayed in many, many hotels, chain, budget, boutique, etc. Our room was spacious and very clean with all amenities provided - Towels, linens, shampoo, soap. There was a full kitchen in... More

We are a family of five and stayed five nights in Sita. The place is perfect, nice location in Lower East Side, close to good restaurants and not far from Wholefoods and Essex Market. The apartment is very clean, beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. Heating worked very well. Enough space for five persons. We will... More

Huge apartment, very nicely furnished, renovated and very clean. You can really experience NYC leaving in this place. Many good restaurants in walking distance. If you are lucky enough, you can park your car on the street. A part of rent is going to a non profit organization called Food for life, who feeds homeless people. During your stay, you are invited... More

Firstly this guest house is right next door to the hells angel but didn't seem to be a problem. After hour Arrive was no issue as they waited for us. The heater in the room didn't work but the next day provided with portable heaters which did the trick. Unfortunately the TV didn't work and after multiple requests this issue... More

The awesomely funky lower east side is best experienced from Sanctuary New York City suites. Our Queen suite included a really comfortable queen bed with cozy duvet, it fully appointed kitchen and separate bathroom with shower but not bath and a rollout folding bed for the third guest. The heating was ample and the room included a little tiny patio... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
