We spent a very pleasant few days in NY earlier this month. Our time in the city was made even more enjoyable by the quality of the San Fermin apartments. They were well appointed and comfortable and with the exceptional hospitality we received from Bernardo, proved to be great value for money compared to the overpriced and impersonal central Manhattan... A friend and I spent a week in NYC last month, and decided not to stay in Manhattan. San Fermin is a beautiful and tastefully furnished and equipped B&B and Bernardo and his wife were most helpful. Would stay again, and will recommend! Lovely cafe with tasty breakfast a two minutes' walk away. And, don't be put off by the... More

My wife and I went to New York December 12 to December 15, 2014. We decided to stay at San Fermin Bed & Breakfast even though it was located in Harlem. We were a bit worried about staying in Harlem but we were so wrong! What a wonderful neighbourhood, people are so kind and helpful. We were 2 minutes away... More

I traveled, drove, to New York in April of 2013. I broke down in South Carolina. I called ahead to my loft hotel and told them I would be late, please hold my room. When I arrived, 2 AM, the front desk at the hotel told me they had sold my room away. I spent the night in the hotel... More

We stayed for three nights at San Fermin - and agree with all the other reviews. Bernardo and Maite have created a really comfortable and well appointed place to stay in New York. They are also very welcoming and helpful - with useful suggestions and recommendations. Our room was 1A - spacious with ensuite, and small kitchenette area. All very... More

I stayed for 8 nights at Bernardo & Maite's great San Fermin B&B. As my family were joining me at the end of the stay Bernardo moved me into the unoccupied larger top floor room when they were here to make us more comfortable. I can't think of another provider that would do that but that is why San Fermin... More

We stayed in the top floor apparent (three bed rooms, kitchenette, bathroom) for 10 days in October 2014. When looking for an apartment to stay in, this was the first apartment that came up on our searches. Initially we overlooked the apartment as the reviews made it look "too good to be true". However, after ruling out any other options... More

Stayed with Bernado and his lovely wife for 4 nights. After arriving, went down and out came the map of the districts, Bernado suggested we dissect the city into squares, it certainly made life easier. Each day we stayed in a different area.. We got a week train pass, a must. No queuing, 10 mins. to down \town. The room... More

We have recently returned from one week at San Fermin and can thoroughly recommend it as a convenient and pleasant place to stay. The Subway is very close and makes it very easy to get anywhere in NYC. The apartments are spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable with all necessary amenities and the kitchenette is a real bonus. There is a... More

Staying in Harlem

Neighborhood Profile
Harlem
As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has played a vital role in the history of New York City. Today, the neighborhood is as vibrant as ever as new businesses and developments go up next to local institutions. The heart of the neighborhood is bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and you’ll discover some of the most beautiful blocks in the city, filled with handsome brownstones, soul food restaurants, corner shops, and scenic parks. For a taste of a real New York neighborhood, it’s hard to top a visit to Harlem.
