My husband and I had 3 nights here in August, whilst on our honeymoon. We chose to stay in Harlem as it is convenient in terms of commuting, quiet, excellent value, full of amazing restaurants, beautiful brownstone buildings, plus, we avoid big chain hotels like the plague! San Fermin is a delightful brownstone, 2 minutes walk from a subway station.... More

An eight night stay in late October. Thoroughly enjoyable and our visit was enhanced by the attentiveness of our hosts. Difficult to find an original comment, as it's all been said already by other guests. Our thanks go to Maite and Bernardo for making us feel so welcome.

This was our second stay in three years and, if anything, the place has improved in terms of service and comfort. Bernardo welcomed us back as old friends and made sure we had all the information and advice we needed to reacquaint ourselves with the local area, the best places to eat and what had changed since we were last... I stayed at San Fermin B&B in Harlem for 2 weeks. It was such a great experience. The house and rooms are charming, nice, spacious, and clean. Bernado and Maite are so sweet and helpful, and made every effort to ensure, that I had a good and pleasant stay. The neighborhood is quiet, safe with nice restaurants and easy access... More

My mother and I spent 5 days at San Fermin in October. From the arrival to the departure, we felt so comfortable. The owner, Bernardo, was super kind and gave us many tips about NY, and his wife, Maite, has really good taste of the interior design. Our room was faced on the street, but the area was safe and... I have nothing but praise for this establishment. I have been to NY before & stayed in different neighbourhoods but this time chose Harlem. It was a wonderful choice as this beautiful home is in a lovely street full of families with kids playing in the street. We loved wandering Harlem & never once felt uncomfortable. It's a quick trip... More

We spent a week at San Fermin in September, part of a group of six and rented the individual spacious bedrooms with kitchen facilities. San Fermin does not provide breakfast but there is a supermarket quite close by and it was easy to provide our own breakfast and snacks. Mine host, Bernardo, and his charming wife were very helpful with... More

We had a wonderful time in New York. I can very much recomend this hotel. The owner is very helpful, he even went with us to the metro station to buy the tickets. This hotel has atmosphere, it's not one of this modern and unpersonally big houses. The rooms are beautiful,it really looks like on the pictures, very, very clean.... More

We visited New York City for the New Yorker festival and the San Fermin turned out to be a wonderful place to stay. Not really a B&B as they do not provide breakfast, but with a small fridge and microwave in the room and a grocery store a block away we had juice, yogurt and cereal for two for 3... More

Staying in Harlem

Neighborhood Profile
Harlem
As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has played a vital role in the history of New York City. Today, the neighborhood is as vibrant as ever as new businesses and developments go up next to local institutions. The heart of the neighborhood is bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and you’ll discover some of the most beautiful blocks in the city, filled with handsome brownstones, soul food restaurants, corner shops, and scenic parks. For a taste of a real New York neighborhood, it’s hard to top a visit to Harlem.
