What a hidden treasure! Just steps from the hustle and bustle of Times Square and the theatre sits the lovely Chatwal. The oversized rooms and amenities are a rare find in similarly priced NYC hotels. The service, decor and general ambience was top shelf. Don't miss it...

Just spent three nights at the Chatwal. Art deco common areas and rooms are beautifully appointed although the black bathrooms get some getting used to. The heated toilet seats sort of make up for it. The location is perfect for theatre goers. We were on a 3rd floor suite which, unbeknownst to us, is directly over the bar. On Friday and... More

My friend and I stayed at The Chatwal for a week in September. We loved the hotel - the location is excellent, the staff friendly but not over the top and the rooms just lovely and very large for New York. Juan, the concierge, was so helpful as George Petkovic, the Director of Operations. I would stay again and would... More

I wanted to love this hotel, but no matter how hard I tried I was disappointed over and over. The property is beautiful; art deco interior, high-tech rooms, luxurious linens and large shower heads with good pressure. The location can't be beat for its proximity to Broadway shows and Times Square. And it's quiet. On the other hand, the staff... More

I thought it would be impossible to find both the convenience of being smack in the middle of the theater district AND a hotel with extraordinary service and superior accommodations. But here it is-- the Chatwal. My room was impeccably designed, at least to my high-end contemporary taste (although I have to admit I didn't bother using the "smart" toilet....perhaps... More

We stayed at the Chatwal for 5 nights and left with a real sense of disappointment. The hotel was highly recommended to us by our travel agent, and the reviews certainly backed up the hype. The location of the hotel for a tourist cannot be faulted, and the hotel is simply beautiful. Our room was nice and comfortable, but could... More

Given the 5 star rating and that I am platinum SPG, I expected my stay to exceed my expectations for other NYC Starwood properties. My room was teeny, tiny. While the "stuff" was great and in high style, I can't imagine what a room that is NOT an upgrade is like. The only way to make the room smaller would... More

We picked New York for our honeymoon and The Chatwal as our place of stay for the short 4 nights hop, we picked this hotel as we wanted a 5 star experience and spend the time in style and comfort. We arrived in New York at 1pm and was too early for check in but turned up to the hotel... More

The Chatwal is the only luxury boutique hotel in the Theatre District and it shows some promise, but the symbol of the hotel—an archer with the bow pointed directly over his head—sums it up. The arrow just might come down and hit the archer. The Chatwal has a habit of shooting itself. I have stayed at The Chatwal a half... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
