Room was large, comfy bed and bathroom was equipped with a separate shower and a bath. Location was good and easy to travel around Manhattan. Helpful staff provided restaurant recommendations. Only slight negative was that an amount of $150 per night was taken from the credit card for incidentals, but then credited back at the end of the stay. We... More

Saying that the Chambers Hotel is a luxurious boutique hotel would be an UNDERSTATEMENT. This is one of the most enjoyable hotels that we ever stayed in in Manhattan. The staff is warm and friendly and greet you immediately. You can tell that they love where they work and that feeling is transferred to the hotel guests. They love assisting... More

Dear Gene G, We are certainly thrilled knowing you have found your home in New York. It is truly our staff that make it what it is, though our ground up architect and interior designer David Rockwell surely gave us a lovely space to work with. We look forward to seeing you often and I will be happy to handle... More

For the price, an EXCELLANT hotel in a great location. (directly off of 5th Avenue and 56th Street) The room offered amenities that were top of the line in toiletries and a great selection of drinks and snacks from the in -room wet bar. While I had no view, the quiet from not being on the street was most welcome... More

Hello Travelbugs964, We would be delighted having you anytime you travel up from the land of Mr. Jefferson and thank you very much for the compliments to the hotel and especially to the very, very fine Ty. I would be pleased to let you know a few of our favorite places that may not make the guidebooks. Once again, thank... More

We spent six nights at the Chambers Hotel on a recent pleasure trip to New York. It's street presence is obvious only when you begin to recognize the large, double wooden doors that are almost always opened for you by a helpful, knowledgeable doorman when you leave or return. The small lobby's reception desk is staffed 24/7 with cheerful, informative,... More

Thank you, Paradocs, for your enthusiastic review. It is greatly appreciated and we are delighted you found the Mezzanine to be your kind of place. We keep it quiet and restful for just such moments. We have purposefully created an aesthetic where the applied plaster walls and pressed concrete ceiling evoke an artist's loft, complete with tracing paper and colored... More

Great rooms, great staff, great Midtown location! Not inexpensive but worth the room rate! A modern hotel with excellent facilities - all you need for central NYC. STAFF so helpful and nothing too much trouble.milk Barcso useful too.

Promoted as a luxury boutique hotel it really does not live up to the expectations it creates. Location is excellent but hotel looks tired and scruffy. Reception areas need regular cleaning as people congregate in the small area next to the check in desk - bit like a rail station. Also there is no cafe or restaurant that belongs to... More

Dear 128eagleye123, I am very sorry indeed Chambers did not meet your expectations. We have David Chang's Momofuku Mà Pêche downstairs, and while we do not own it, we surely have it as our own, along with Milk Bar cafe. Both are considered among New York's most popular destinations. Too, we have intentionally designed the hotel with exposed pipes, applied... More

Great hotel and walking distance to everything (Grand Central Station, Madison Square Garden, Time Square, and Macy's). The staff were great especially the concierge John who went above and beyond to recommend activities and restaurants and made the trip that much better. The only negative was the room was very small but apparently that is typical in New York and... More

Dear Stiosti, Please accept my apologies for your inconvenience with our elevators. Generally we have two for our 77 rooms though occasionally one must be serviced and the remaining can be taxed. Too, with as much water pressure as is supplied, a bit may occasionally go astray. Thank you for your attention to details and we surely appreciate your comments.... More

Chambers provides a lovely alternative to the big chain gestalt in midtown and down to the theater district on the west side: Small, friendly, spectacularly decorated with contemporary colors, decor and (perhaps most significantly) art. The rooms are sharp and modern with plush beds and gorgeous bedding, rainshowers AND bathtubs (in some rooms), and lots of art books and attention... More

Dear frqyx, We of course are biased, but surely agree with you on the "lovely alternative" and pretty much everything else. Thank you for taking you time in letting us and TripAdvisor know. Corner Kings are a favorite room, Ty and Jose rock and being in the middle of Manhattan is a lovely thing. See you soon (please know you... More

I took a spontaneous trip to to NYC one Friday morning. I was only staying 1 night, and decided to find a room on line. This was our first visit to the Chambers. After many, many visits to overpriced, cramped hotels in New York City, our expectations for this hotel weren't high. That's was a mistake because this hotel and its staff are excellent by any standard. The positive experience began right away when were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a huge suite with... Good afternoon, morton72, Thank you very much. It is always terrific to hear Chambers changed your mind about hotels in New York, or at least demonstrated the alternative. While certainly not all our rooms have terraces, we are pleased you were able to be introduced to the hotel's many other charms as well. Please do let me know when you... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
