I would NOT recommend this place in the slightest. We had booked with La Sienna and noticed that their latest check-in was at 11pm, so we decided to call to see if a later check-in would be ok because our flight lands at 10pm. The woman on the was angry straight away, saying that we wouldn't get there until 3... More

Latest check in time is 11PM. I have it posted so their are no surprises. He called me because his flight of 10PM would not get in until 12AM. Which means he would not arrive until 3AM. This is a late September booking he has plenty of time to find something else. I will not check him in at 3AM.... More

My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights here in July. Beautiful brownstone home with cute living quarters. It was well priced for the hospitality that was received. Only thing is for summer, not all rooms have air conditioning. Yvette was very helpful, accommodating and inviting. Great spot if you want a local experience in NYC, its about 15 min ride... More

I had a weekend trip planned to go see a concert in NYC on July 17 & of course I needed a place to stay. Staying anywhere in Manhattan is expensive especially for someone who was traveling solo like I was. After some research through here & other sites, I found La Sienna. In addition, I found out a buddy... More

We had an amazing stay at La Sienna. We were impressed by the 'hostel', and by the maintenance of the facilities. The shared toilet and shower were very clean, and in separate rooms which we found very practical. The kitchenette on our floor was great, and we had breakfast there every morning to save time and money. As for the... More

I am in love with this "hostel" and my fiance and I will be staying here every time we visit New York! It's so cozy and Yvette (the owner) is such a wonderful, friendly woman. She allowed my fiance and I to drop off our bags early and she kept the hostel smelling WONDERFUL and extremely clean. We really enjoyed... More

After being stranded in New York unexpectedly due to a flight cancellation my partner and I found La Sienna instantly while browsing hostels. We called the lady who said she could make a room available for us 1 hour after we called. Once we arrived, the lady was absolutely helpful and understanding. She provided us with a beautiful room for... More

We really enjoyed our stay at la sienna. The room we stayed in was extremely clean and bathroom facilities. We loved the dog bailey being around and I was most impressed with yvettes kind heart with animals. Harlem is fantastic and not hard to get into seeing the sights of Manhattan by subway or via taxi, which is inexpensive. Decent... More

On approaching La Sienna you are taken by the lovely brownstone buildings in a tree lined road. Located only three minutes walk from W125 street subway station means good access to the rest of the city, taking the A line express train takes only 20 minutes to Pennsylvania Station. Central Park is only 13 blocks south. All subways we used... More

I recently spent three very comfortable nights at La Sienna. I arrived quite late at night but this was no problem (I emailed in advance) and I was warmly greeted by the host (who I've sadly forgotten the name of but she was a very friendly and helpful lady). I was travelling alone so I stayed in a single room,... More

If you want a room for a few nights with great connections via the subway to New York City, this is the place. It's $2.50 to anywhere from Harlem, don't bother with taxis. The hotel itself is clean throughout, our host was fantastic and full of information. The only letdown for us being a couple, was the size of the... More

Staying in Harlem

Neighborhood Profile
Harlem
As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has played a vital role in the history of New York City. Today, the neighborhood is as vibrant as ever as new businesses and developments go up next to local institutions. The heart of the neighborhood is bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and you’ll discover some of the most beautiful blocks in the city, filled with handsome brownstones, soul food restaurants, corner shops, and scenic parks.
