This was a great place to stay at. You can take a Subway to anywhere you want or take a bus. It is close to Manhattan an Bert was very helpful with explaining everything. You are free to go were you want.

Bert is an excellent host and this is a great place to stay. There are 2 different apartments; we had booked on 127th but ended up staying at 132nd. The blocks are close and it was a short and convenient walk to the blue A subway station. We stayed in the top floor apartment, which was nice, spaciious and clean.... More

Had a brilliant time in New York. Bert, the host, made me feel welcome as I arrived. The place is nice and the neighborhood exciting. Harlem had a bad rep back in the 90s. This is no longer the case and the area offers loads of opportunities. Bert will go through it all when you arrived. They even give you... More

Very happy with this place. In a characterful neighbourhood in Harlem, close to 2 subway stations giving easy connection to downtown Manhattan. Spacious and pleasant apartment with kitchen amenities available. Bert was friendly and helpful.

Hi Burt, We were lucky that you were fully booked. So you gave us a whole appartment instead of the rented room. We felt very welcome and you gave us a short briefing of the city. Thank you for your hospitality!

Chic & Budget is a very good place to be. Bert is a very nice and helpful host ! He took time to explain us all visits to do in the town ... and there is a lot of documentation in the guest house . Rooms are spacious and very clean . Don't hesitate to go there !

The owner, Bert, has several properties in this area of Harlem, NYC. He met us at our apartment and personally handed over the keys and showed us up to the accommodation. He showed us around and explained where everything was and then sat us down at the kitchen table with a large map of NYC where he highlighted all the... More

When I booked I didn't know what to expect and was a bit nervous but as soon as we walked into the apartment and met Bert I was happy. Loved staying in Harlem. Apartment close to bus and trains that go straight downtown. So easy to catch. Apartment so roomy and had everything we needed including umbrellas as we had... More

Located as it is in a fairly sketchy, run-down area, the 127 apartment is a very pleasant surprise as you walk in - a large living space with exposed brickwork, a spiral staircase, and a modern kitchen. Bert does everything to welcome you and introduce you to the city and the neighbourhood, sitting you down with a map to give... More

Staying in Harlem

Neighborhood Profile
Harlem
As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has played a vital role in the history of New York City. Today, the neighborhood is as vibrant as ever as new businesses and developments go up next to local institutions. The heart of the neighborhood is bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and you’ll discover some of the most beautiful blocks in the city, filled with handsome brownstones, soul food restaurants, corner shops, and scenic parks. For a taste of a real New York neighborhood, it’s hard to top a visit to Harlem.
