My grand daughter and I have just spent a week with Rick in his B&B and it was great,we had a wonderful time.So much nicer than staying in one of the big hotel chains,Rick's house in Harlem is on a quiet street and everyone was very friendly and helpful,it is only about 5 minutes from the subway, but Rick is... Rick's B&B is an oasis in busy NYC. The rooms are airy, comfy, immaculate. Rick pays close attention to detail. He made lovely fruit to-go containers when we had to leave early. He knows a lot about the neighborhood and NYC, and it was a pleasure to chat while coming and going. Thank you so much!

This was Our second time staying at Rick's place. And Just like the first time we stayed. Things where Awesome! The Breakfast was great with fresh fruits and pastry's all locally sourced and Breakfast conversation was great. Rick is a great B&B onwer with good local knowledge and good at reading travellers and suggesting thinks to do. The B&B is... More

We really enjoyed our stay at Rick's place. Located in a quiet street in Harlem, close the the subway, everyday was like coming home after a busy, noisy day in NYC. Rick's pastry and fresh fruits breakfast were lovely and we really enjoyed our morning talks, filled with tips & tricks from a local. I would reccommend this place to... More

As usual we chose accommodation based on Trip Advisor reviews; seeking accommodation in a smaller establishment rather than a big 'chain' hotel. Rick's brownstone BnB in Harlem met both our budget and expectations. The room was clean, well furnished and very large. The bathroom was also a good size and functional, and the bed was comfortable. As others have remarked,... More

This BnB was in a quiet, homey, relaxed walkup in Harlem. The owner was very helpful and personable and available for questions and good conversation. My husband is quite big so he was happy to accommodate us in a bigger bed which helped alot. The rooms are so pretty and spacious. Generally people are a little reserved about BnBs because... More

Rooms are huge and very tastefully decorated. Everything inside the room is spotless. Neighbourhood is fun and authentic, and full of life. Locals are keen for a chat and very friendly. A warning though, if you don't like to make eye contact with people or see people living their daily lives (getting bread from the corner store, chatting in the... More

We had never previously stayed in New York city and finding The Renaissance House was the perfect start to our trip. Rick has so much local knowledge that he wants to share and is justifiably proud of the changes that have happened in Harlem in recent times. For those of you whose opinion of Harlem may be based on an... More

The real star of this hotel is the owner Rick, very warm and friendly, great conversationalist with a wealth of knowledge and experience. The rooms are large with their own bathrooms. Situated in a tree lined street in Harlem, it is so peaceful we always slept in. Close to public transport, restaurants and shops. It certainly is more of a... More

As a travelling musician, I thought I knew B&Bs. The Harlem Renaissance House made me think again. Friendly, warm, hospitality doesn't adequately describe this fine establishment. Rick, the proprietor is accommodating, flexible, knowledgeable and passionate about the area's local history. If a mini-bar is your thing then don't go to the Harlem Renaissance House, but if you want what feels like...
