This was a last minute booking as I was passing through, and the Mayor was one of the most affordable in the area. Staff were friendly, the room was clean, and bathroom adequate size. People complaining about noise and other annoyances from outside maybe didn't realise that the hotel is in the centre of busy Chinatown - which I didn't... More

The only reason I give 2 star is because the place was decently clean. The pictures are a lie. There is little to no room to walk around, the bathroom had more room to walk around than in the actual room. Also, yes there is a desk but no room to put the chair. They have a HD tv but... More

We stayed here for 8 nights and found the staff really helpful and kind, The breakfast was basic and by the end we were bored of croissants but its was fine! The room was comfortable having stayed in many hostels before the bed was hard but fine! By the time we have been out all day exploring new york you... More

If you're looking for a cheap place to sleep, with private bathroom and near public transportation (in this case, the F line subway is 2 blocks away), this is the choice for you. The hotel staff was kind, and the rooms were clean. Considering it was near a train track, I was afraid that it would be noisy, but it... More

What a friendly and nice hotel! The staff was very honest and helpful. We lost our bag of souveniers and the cleaning lady had found it and when we asked for it from the reception, they brought it to us. Definitely going to stay here again! Room was also very clean. Neighborhood was very safe and location is excellent!. Only... More

I took a room on fourth floor. The wi-fi was good for web reading only. I tried to use Netflix and the movie not even started to load. The door was once broken and they fix it awfully, but when i asked to change my room they did it without majors problems... The "new" room was ecactly the other one,... More

This hotel is right by little Italy and China town, it's close to a lot of tourist destinations but is also right next to a train line, I spent one night here before I had to leave for another hotel the beds were almost like sleeping on concrete

Staff was friendky. That is all that was worth it. Hotel is grossly dirty. Mold in bathroom (chalk and grout very moldy). Cleaning lady dies not HAVE a vacuum?, no cleaners in cart?. No separate room air units, heating controlled by hotel?. Was so hot, but opening windows could kill you. Delivery trucks park on corner and diesel fumes come... More

I booked this hotel because it was cheap and had a free cancellation fee, as is common with websites such as booking.com. The Mayor Hotel, in spite of the fact that the confirmation mail also states that there is no fee if cancelled 48 hours in advance, charged $94 to my credit card as soon as I made the reservation.... Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
