We were in town for Morrissey/Blondie show (FANTASTIC BTW!!) We stayed on the 8th floor, twin room, shared bathroom. Never had to wait for the facilities, were always clean. Only thing there are not paper towels to dry hand after washing. Room was plenty big for the two of us. Small flat screen, desk, sink w/soaps, shampoo, plenty of towels.... More

New York City in the summer time is a VERY expensive place to stay, so we were pleased to find Hotel 31 which was $100-$200 cheaper than other hotels in Manhattan. For $160/night we had a room with a double bed and a shared bathroom. The hotel is centrally located, about a 15-20 minute walk to Penn Station and a... More

This hotel is located in a very good position between Park Av. & Lexington Av. close by the subway (33 street green line) and walking distance just few blocks away from Grand Central Terminal, Empire State Building and all major touristic attractions. Don't expect a fancy hotel, it is perfect if you travel on a budget and want to enjoy... More

This was my cheapest choice of hotel for Manhattan. It has / had a shared bathroom - so beware - However, I had no issue. Everything was clean and I did not have to wait once. The location is great, just a 2 min walk from a 33 subway station. The staff were helpful on how to get to the... More

There are 2 types of hotel : one to enjoy the hotel itself and another for those who want to enjoy the city . The Hotel 31 is for those who want to enjoy the city and fits very well this expectation. It's simple, cheap, clean, safe and very well located. It is very close to the Empire State and... More

Good choice for travelers on a budget. Rooms are small, but not a big deal if you're not going to spend much time there. There's a sink in the room. Shared bathrooms were not a big deal. There were two bathrooms on our floor, and both were always open. Hotel is quiet, hardly ever saw any other guests and we... More

Perfect for a traveller on a budget. Brilliant location in Manhattan. The room was clean and tidy, yes a little dark and small but so what. I'd rather be here and have New York on my doorstep..after all who is going to spend any time in a hotel room when in New York?! Shared bathrooms but they were always clean.... More

Not my cup of tea at all. The elevator (only one, very small) was quite slow. Our room on the fourth floor had a view obstructed by a brick wall two-thirds of the way up. The television was tiny. Poor sound insulation.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
