We stayed here for 3 nights during a 4 week road trip. Approx 30mins from JFK in a taxi. Ideal location for touring the city. Plenty do do and see within walking distance. Room we stayed in was very basic but clean. A bit on the small side but we only slept there as out most of the day. Shared... More

I stayed here with a group of women friends in mid-December, prime season. The price was very low and the room was just fine--small, but who hangs out in the room during a New York adventure? The place was scrupulously clean and not at all shabby. It was also NOT noisy. There is no lobby and bathrooms are shared (though... More

First realize if your visiting NYC I would hope the only thing you need is a bed and shower. If that's it then this is the place for you. It's old. The elevator seems to be an original I found it entertaining. The room doesn't have any room but I'm only here to sleep. The room is clean when you... More

We choose this Hotel as it seemed to be quite near to everything we wanted to see. We were not disappointed, very central to most attractions and close to the metro for those attractions a bit further away. We stayed on the fifth floor to the left of the hotel. We had no view as such but then again we... More

It's hard to find a cheaper hotel in Manhattan than Hotel 31. Naturally, there are some drawbacks such as shared bathrooms and tiny guest rooms. It's clean, though, so if you're relatively price-sensitive you might want to consider it. Not too far from Penn Station (though it's a long walk with luggage) and close to the subway. Don't expect any... More

Did I mention convenient? It's in 31st between Park and Lexington. You can see Grand Central from the corner of Park. And the neighborhood is great. Very ethnic with lots of good places to eat. The hotel itself is very quaint, a tasteful and authentic remodel, I guess. We had a room with twin beds and bathroom down the hall.... More

A spot on no frills hotel that was perfect for my requirements as a solo traveller who just needed a base to explore the city from. The location was brilliant, lots of places in walking distance and a subway station only round the corner. The interior was clean, the shared bathrooms were spotless and no issue at all, and the... We decided to give this hotel a chance after everything else being easily double the price for what looked like the same quality. We were not disappointed. We stayed for a week in September in a room with a shared bathroom (this was what was putting me off booking). The room was neat and compact, air conditioner worked very well.... More

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. We found it to be very clean and liked that the rooms had a safe that you could use. The location was brilliant, do close to everything. The room was quite small. Whenever we went to use the bathroom they were clean so having shared bathrooms was not an issue.

After deciding to sacrifice a private bathroom for the cheaper rates at this hotel we were not disappointed. Almost half the price of most other hotels in the area we were delighted with our stay. Located close to all major attractions/bars/shops and restaurants we were able to walk to everything. The room wasn't big but had enough room for our... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
