Wow. Some of the reviews made me quite worried about the hotel. But it is fine. It actual was larger than expected for manhattan. Bathroom was certainly larger than many I've been in, shower only no tub. The hardwood floor was very nice. I checked for bedbugs, none! I also found the location quiet at night. Room had a safe,... For those looking for something short..The room was clean when I got there and the staff fairly nice (which I usually could care less about). Now, here's the whole story: Arrived for 2 night business stay 4/25. Got the government rate (which is why we were there). Checked bags that morning and went to work. Claiming bag that evening they... More

Dear Stephen W, Thank you for leaving a review. I am deeply sorry you received service that was less than satisfactory. This is not the type of service you should expect from our hotel. I have to say that overall, the Hotel Indigo Chelsea is average at best. I booked the hotel with high expectations due to the great reviews on Trip Advisor and a great experience at a Hotel Indigo in Asheville, NC. However, we were sadly disappointed. First of all, the lobby is unattractive the white/cream colored carpets have stains. The front... More

Just to let everyone know about the Best Rate Guarantee hassle....I did get a check for the first night rebated a few weeks after returning home. I had booked the trip through Venere (a travel site on line) and THEY honored the promise! NOT the hotel. So, all turned out well and we did enjoy our stay in early December... More

I have not stayed in Chelsea in the past because most places were dives but apparently Chelsea is going through gentrification in the form of a number of apartment buildings and office buildings being converted to small to medium sized hotels. Hotel Indigo is a boutique hotel with a lovely aestetic and nice sized rooms (for NYC) and very hospitable... More

Rooms: super contemporary, clean & comfortable. Some level of noise in NYC is unavoidable - this hotel was no exception. Rooms are serviced daily which are great. Bathrooms: modern, clean & spacious. However, the shower is covered with only half a glass window which means water splashes out of the shower on the floor & onto the toilet during a... More

I chose the Hotel Indigo for a recent stay in NYC because its location is convenient to some events I had to attend. This location, although not in the most attractive neighborhood, is good for those who have some familiarity with and are not intimidated by the streets on NYC. It's close to several subway lines, walkable to the Flatiron... More

I booked the Hotel Indigo on Hotwire about three days before my stay. I was more than pleased with my rate of $130, including taxes. The hotel was super convenient to my arrival at Penn Station, just a few blocks away. The street was really quiet at 8pm, but I didn't feel that it was a dangergous area in the... More

I stayed here with my wife for a brief get away to NYC and we were very happy with the hotel. It is very nicely located on 28th St in the flower district, an easy walk from Time Square, West Village, Port Authority bus station and Grand Central Station. The room was larger than I expected for NYC and room... More

Company visit with 10 people visiting from Sweden. Excellent service from the staff who helped with restaurant booking, recommendations. Clean and comfortable rooms. Quiet. Rooftop bar should have been open considering the long warm spell.

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
