We stayed at EVBC last June and had a great time, and found Anne to be responsive and friendly enough, and had recommended it to many others during the year--but our stay last weekend was really not so good. The service and facilities in general were off-putting. The first issue was the smell: the entire place smelled of exterminator's fluid,... More

GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD! I lived in Alphabet City for 15 years and almost rented this apt building with 3 potential roommates in 1995. It simply doesn't get any more authentic and flavorful than this part of the East Village!

This was my second time staying at East Village Bed & Coffee with my first stay being over five years ago! Throughly enjoyed my stay and chatting with Anne! It was my sister's first trip to New York City and she loved it! Three of us shared the French Room. We never had to wait over a couple minutes for... More

I have this hate love relationship with EVB&C every time I swear I would not go back I end up going back. Location is excellent, Anne is a friendly host and the java rocks. The french room I believe is one of the biggest ones, plenty of room and a nice chair to sit and relax. Downside the mattress is... More

We stayed 3 nights at East Village Bed and Coffee. From the welcome we received when we walked in til we left, Anne, Alex, and Mango were friendly and helpful. The East Village neighborhood had lots of character, and this place is a short walk to the subway. Will definitely stay here again when visiting NYC!

Came here with a colleague for business, excellent stay in a very unique place. The proprietor Anne and her assistant Alex were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay in the city enjoyable. A wide variety of rooms filled with a diverse group of people from all over the world. Can't beat the rates for the... More

After a long flight from London to New York and a terrible case of jet lag we were both very tired when we arrived at the Bed and Coffee. We got the shuttle taxi service from the airport and were a little worried we'd arrived at the wrong place when we got here as we couldn't see any signs for... More

It pains me to say it because the host is charming, but i couldn't stand up in my room. What's the deal with that? When i confronted the owner with this, she replied "Didn't i send you the link in which was written the it was a low ceiling?" Well, with "low ceiling" i assume that it means that the... More

My friend & I were travelling to New York and wanted to pick a centrally located spot. EVBC was perfect! I can't think of anything I didnt love about the place. Anne was extremely helpful, even before we left South Africa. Communication was never a problem. EVBC made us fall in love with East Village. Can't wait to be back

Yes the EVB&C is one of the gems of NYC. A great host and assistant, who were wonderful in helping us settle in. The location was also delightful giving us the deep immersion treatment of the street life of the real NYC. A unique and safe place, so happy we stayed here.

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
