I have this hate love relationship with EVB&C every time I swear I would not go back I end up going back. Location is excellent, Anne is a friendly host and the java rocks. The french room I believe is one of the biggest ones, plenty of room and a nice chair to sit and relax. Downside the mattress is... More

We stayed 3 nights at East Village Bed and Coffee. From the welcome we received when we walked in til we left, Anne, Alex, and Mango were friendly and helpful. The East Village neighborhood had lots of character, and this place is a short walk to the subway. Will definitely stay here again when visiting NYC!

Came here with a colleague for business, excellent stay in a very unique place. The proprietor Anne and her assistant Alex were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay in the city enjoyable. A wide variety of rooms filled with a diverse group of people from all over the world. Can't beat the rates for the... More

After a long flight from London to New York and a terrible case of jet lag we were both very tired when we arrived at the Bed and Coffee. We got the shuttle taxi service from the airport and were a little worried we'd arrived at the wrong place when we got here as we couldn't see any signs for... More

It pains me to say it because the host is charming, but i couldn't stand up in my room. What's the deal with that? When i confronted the owner with this, she replied "Didn't i send you the link in which was written the it was a low ceiling?" Well, with "low ceiling" i assume that it means that the... More

My friend & I were travelling to New York and wanted to pick a centrally located spot. EVBC was perfect! I can't think of anything I didnt love about the place. Anne was extremely helpful, even before we left South Africa. Communication was never a problem. EVBC made us fall in love with East Village. Can't wait to be back

Yes the EVB&C is one of the gems of NYC. A great host and assistant, who were wonderful in helping us settle in. The location was also delightful giving us the deep immersion treatment of the street life of the real NYC. A unique and safe place, so happy we stayed here.

Unique, affordable rooms on a quiet, safe street in East Village. Walking distance from the subway and various parks, restaurants, cafes, bars etc etc. The communal areas including bathroom and kitchen had useful supplies, were clean and rarely busy. The owner was extremely accommodating of late changes to our travel arrangements. The walls are a little thin - ear plugs... More

We have to agree with much of what has been said in the positive reviews of EVB&C. This place is packed full of character, based in a vibrant, up and coming and hip neighbourhood. We loved Mango the dog and we thought Anne was a great host (we think she has a very dry NY sense of humour that perhaps... More

We had a small room on a mezzanine floor above the ground floor with windows overlooking the kitchen. It could be noisy for some people but it didn't worry us. It was handy because you could see if anyone was using the bathroom which was by the kitchen. We bought breakfast things so was able to have something to eat... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
