We had an amazing time staying in the airplane room during our time in New York. The owner is AMAZING. Perfect 10. She helped me double park, find attractions, hung out with us while we were figuring out what to do, and just acted beyond helpful at all times. The room was gorgeous and clean, albeit a little small. Excellent... More

EVB&B was a quiet refreshing place to stay, away from the boring, impersonal, overpriced chain hotels. It is full of personality, unique, meaningful décor and amenities galore! Anne and "Co" were extremely helpful and friendly. We loved Mango! The shared bathrooms were clean and the wait minimal. Because of the homey atmosphere, and the attraction of like minded guests, interaction... More

I really enjoyed my stay at the end of September, 2014. We stayed in the Black and White room which had two double beds. There were two large dressers and a closet in the room, so plenty of storage room. The bathrooms were clean and well equipped. Ground coffee was free on each floor and cold filtered water in the... We loved everything about this place. Plenty of character and affordable. Great location too, far from tourist dense areas, we felt like New York locals. Public transport was convenient and easy. Would not hesitate to recommend and stay again.

Bed and Coffee was a great place to stay and excellent value for money. The facilities were fantastic (including free use of bicycles!). My husband and I stayed in the treehouse room which was cozy. The subway was a 20 minute walk away and there was a bus stop directly outside. Anne was friendly and very helpful. Mango the dog... More

My wife and I stayed here for a few days in May 2014. We had meant to be staying for two weeks but due to a serious illness ( our son was in intensive care in Laos and then Bangkok) we had to make hurried arrangements to leave for Australia and home and then to Bangkok. Anne and Alex could... More

A very positive surprise to me, especially when reading some of the reviews here. Travelling on my own for a couple of days in NY, this place was just perfect. I loved the room because for the first time for very long, I had a quiet room, where sleep quality was excellent. I travel frequently with work and stay at... More

Comfortable B&B style accommodations with shared bathrooms and kitchens. The rooms are small and require stairs to access. The atmosphere is a little funky, very friendly and helpful.. We were provided with membership passes to MoMA that saved us $100.00 in admission fees. Internet access provided and on street parking was easy to find.Lots of bars and restaurants in easy... More

I stayed here because a friend told me it was a bargain. It is in a decent location, and I never felt unsafe. That said, it's not very close to the subway (15 minute walk, which is too far in January). Three of us stayed in the Afghan Room -- I was on an air mattress. The toilet seat in... More

We stayed at EVBC last June and had a great time, and found Anne to be responsive and friendly enough, and had recommended it to many others during the year--but our stay last weekend was really not so good. The service and facilities in general were off-putting. The first issue was the smell: the entire place smelled of exterminator's fluid,... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
