Yes admittedly the hotel could do with refurbishment (which I believe is happening in the new year) , but the rooms are clean, it's in a great location and the staff are friendly and helpful Our room was small but had a fridge, coffee making facilities and toiletries. Hot water was plentiful and the housekeeping did an excellent job daily.... More

Good value, given the silly prices of other hotels in Manhattan. Ideal hotel for visiting the city if you intend to be out most of the time. A block away from The Empire State Building and 1 street away from a metro station, in a safe neighborhood, clean and comfortable rooms. Good service. Free in room wifi. Inclusive Buffet Breakfast... Located just opposite the Empire State this is a very pocket friendly hotel in NYC. Although the rooms are not very spacious but many tourist attractions can be easily accessisible. Subway station is also right across the street. The staff is also very nice

Fantastic location in mid-town near a lot of excellent restaurants and an easy walk from many attractions. Rather basic facilities (no wardrobe, but merely a hanging rail, no safe deposit boxes in room, ancient - and very noisy - air con) but good value for location. Rooms beautifully clean and chamber maids lovely and very helpful; public areas especially the... More

the room size was fine but dull and dreary , in dire need of a refurbishment, Carpets felt grubby and i don't think the staircases had been cleaned at all for months, paper peeling off walls and very dirty ! Beds were ok but really the hotel rooms and staircase badly needs a coat of paint and new carpets!

Recently stayed at the Hotel Grand Union, choosing the hotel due to its location, which is spot on for getting around! Although an older style property the room was a good size and maid service was provided every day. As a whole the property was in good condition and very clean. Staff were extremely helpful and only happy to help... More

Good hotel in superb location. Clean and tidy. No complaints for the money you pay. Lift is the only pain. I believe they are doing a refurb shortly, so can onlt get better. Will defo be back on my next visit.

This was our second time to NY & We stayed here in October 14 for 9 days. We had a family suite, I think it was called, which was basically 2 double beds & a sofa bed, small kitchenette consisting of coffee machine, sink & 3 cupboards & a bathroom with shower and separate bath tub. I'm know they are... More

Located in Mid-Town Manhattan this hotel is just a few steps from the 4,5 and 6 trains. Whilst it is an older style building I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and spacious room I was given. It was a quiet section of the building with no noise to disturb your sleep. Toilet was old but clean and shower in... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
