Our room on 8th floor facing the street was quite comfortable, but not luxurious by any measure. We noticed no street noise, with the in-window airconditioner on, and the mini fridge was well appreciated. In New York, where there's so much to see and do in the city, we didn't want to spend much time in the hotel room, so... More

Nice clean basic hotel. Nice polite staff. When in NYC you really only need somewhere to put your head as there is so much to do/see during the day. Absolutely fantastic location to visit all the major tourist attractions of NYC. Would easily stay here again!

This very reasonably priced hotel was such a delight to find. On arrival we were told they didn't have two rooms for our family of four, they were very apologetic and offered a 'Jack&Jill' room with connecting door for the price of one of the original rooms we had booked, or we could have a very large family room, again at... We stayed here in July 2014. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful and the 24 hour reception is good. The location is great, walking distance of most of the attractions you may want to visit, we used the sub way too. The rooms were cleaned daily and had every thing we needed. The complimentary breakfast was good. Would stay... More

I stayed here in July. The hotel is in a very good location, 2 blocks from the empire state building and the green subway line is on the corner if you go right when you leave the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful on check in and throughout my time there . The hotel itself and the rooms... More

I wanted just a place to sleep for the night and there were 4 of us. It is hard to find a room for 4 so I booked this hotel. I think it is way over priced for the condition it is in. The "one" elevator is very painful to wait for. We ended up carrying our luggage, 3 year... More

This both IS and ISN'T a destination hotel. If your destination is the hotel -- then this isn't for you. No swimming pools, no spas, no valet parking, no bell hops, not even adequate lobby space to lounge around in waiting for friends or family. If, however, your destination is Manhattan and Midtown in particular, I don't think you could... More

We got a great rate, the room was clean and neat, and the hotel was central to all the places we wanted to be. The staff was great: very friendly and helpful. And a modest breakfast was included each morning-- we would highly recommend Hotel Grand Union. It isn't luxury accommodations, but it does the trick with no shortcomings.

The price, location, and the the triple-bed room were the draws for us. The hotel is like a "hole in the wall", with not even an ice or vending machine for cold water on a hot day, and one tiny elevator which, after a 10 minute wait, was too full to accommodate us with all our luggage anyway. The room... More
