My friend and I stayed in the Modern Apartment for 4 nights in March for her 40th Birthday shopping trip to New York. We originally booked to stay in the main Second Home on Second Ave but due to some problems with the accomodation in the Dec before our trip Billy (the owner) advised us they were moving us to... more

We stayed at the Modern Apartment that is located in the other building so we enjoyed it like we would be living in a rented apartment. Kitchen was good and appliances plenty. Refrigerator was a little too noisy, but otherwise everything was ok. Shower was hard to get started (because of an interesting system) but on the second day we... more

I stayed in one of the basic rooms rather than one of the suites at Second Home, and found it to be cosy and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the room was tastefully decorated. It felt much more homely than a hotel. The lowest floor in the property is two floors above a bar, so perhaps... more

We stayed here for one night after a longer stay elsewhere in NYC. The Second Home is very clean and had nice large rooms with high ceilings and a tv. The staff are very friendly - we were 'upgraded' on arrival as they had a better room available that did not face the street so would be quieter. It was... more

I stayed in the Caribbean room for 4 nights in mid October. My room was huge by NY standards and I had a large private bath. I loved the location, not touristy at all and close to Union Square and the subway. Lots of cheap restaurants in the neighborhood also. Very safe area and I would definitely stay here again.... more

Ok location near to Union Sq station. Steep stairs up to accomodation, definitely not suitable for people with mobility issues. No breakfast available but plenty of options close-by, self-catering kitchen basic , but useable. We booked twin bedded "Caribbean room", somewhat basic, tired decor and no real theme except a picture depicting a plantation scene on wall. Reasonably clean. The... more

We booked the tribal room and couldn't be happier. We had a terrible first night in another New York hotel, which made us appreciate Second Home on Second Avenue even more! Our room was big and clean and we didn't have any noise problems what so ever. Next time I'll visit New York, I'll definitely stay here again. more

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our holiday and we loved it...! The staff were very helpful and helped us with our luggage, the tribal room was very spacious and clean and it was well located - it was in a great neighbourhood for eating (and one where you didnt feel as if you coouldn't walk... more

I stayed at 2nd Home on 2nd Avenue back in December, just before Christmas. It was wonderful! A simple, humble place, but SPOTLESSLY clean, as warm as toast and the owners were lovely. They helped me hike my mountain of luggage up to the floor I was on (three flights of stairs) and let me check in early and out... more

Myself and my two daughters booked Second Home after seeing all the good reviews on this site and were not disappointed in the slightest. We arrived on 28th June and stayed two nights in the Tribal room before moving into the modern apartment around the corner on 13th St. for the remaining five days of our stay. Okay, first off,... more
