It was our first trip to NYC. We were going for two weeks, and two weeks in NYC does stretch your budget. We had to decide early on with comfort vs location, and quickly settled that we do really want to stay in Midtown with much of the sightings reachable on feet. So we ended up with Americana Inn. The... More

i needed a cheap hotel near Penn Station for one night. It turned out to be not cheap in comparison with other hotels. I was amazed that I did not have a bathroom. The room was like a prison cell. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. It was noisy. There was nothing good about this hotel. The best part of... More

i don't understand how people can critize this place i mean this is not a luxury hotel but when you consider the value ,price and location this little place is among the best in town period. the area is very safe within blocks of everything the rooms are clean and the staff is friendly in my experience, me and my... This was much more like a hostel than a hotel. Rooms are tiny. Bathrooms are shared. Heat was pumping so high we sweat through the night. My husband was able to stretch and reach both walls at the same time. Someone puked on shared bathroom floor and it stayed there all night. Walls are thin so you can hear workers... More

The room was extremely small, and with no extras other than a small TV (with remote that didn't work!) The room did not have a hairdryer, iron or coffee pot. The double bed was up against the wall and the head of the bed was right against the window and had no headboard. There was a draft blowing on our... More

If you're going to judge it purely on other hotels you've stayed at (assuming you've stayed at some 4 star plus establishments) you'll be disappointed. The fact that you're considering this means that you've seen how extortionate all other hotels are in New York and are on a budget. The hotel does the job. I was in NY for 1... More

This would be my second visit to The Americana Inn and they have improved the rooms with new windows and better heating and a/c units. Nice change that makes for a better stay. Rooms, common areas and restrooms always clean. Restrooms always available with no wait. Employees friendly and efficient. You stay in this style of lodging because you are... More

Well, New York is an expensive city and for 200 USD in a hotel near Manhattan you would expect average service in a good and central location. I stayed 2 nights at this hotel and my feeling of this place was pretty average. You had to share bathroom with others and the WIFI was horrible, I must say this. You... More

I admit we didn't do our homework that we'll when we booked Americana Inn in October, but then again paying 250 dollars a night should secure you a fairly nice place to stay, right? So imaging our surprise that our room was a small shoebox with a very narrow bed and absolutely no room for two adults to maneuver around.... More

All up we stayed four nights over a week (all priced differently booked at different times and through different sites). The night for $145 was a bargan; the night for $220 was a bit pricy. However, we were willing to pay for the convenience of the location and for the fun of having a room in the heart of New York.... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
