This hotel is a gem. It is small, charming, quiet, tastefully decorated, very comfortable, nicely appointed and immaculately kept. Since I like getting outside air into my room, I was delighted to find windows that open. The staff were superb, friendly, professional, helpful, knowledgeable and well informed. I was in the city to attend the Affordable Art Fair; held each... More

I stayes two nights at the Gem. The room was small but just right for my needs, with all I needed. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The location is good - not in the middle of Mannhatan, but close enough to central essentials and public transportation.

Nice hotel. Rooms are small but it did not bother us. Staff was great. Very helpful. My mom got sick while we were there and the staff helped us find a walk-in clinic. Nearby local eateries. A good non-touristy feel. It is a bit of a walk to subway but not far.

The hotel is a quick walk to Penn Station Subway line, lots of great restaurants just a couple blocks away and the king-sized room on the 9th floor was simple, tasteful and comfortable. The best thing about the hotel, though, was the staff. Jasmin provided amazing recommendations for restaurants and was very accommodating. When I left, I offered them a... More

Now my second visit to this hotel and it was exactly as I remembered it. Ashley loaned me her umbrella so that I wouldn't get soaked as a walked across Manhattan in the wet snow. Love this place and the people.

This was our first time here and we couldn't have been more delighted with the location and the service we received from the friendly front desk staff, their recommendations for nearby food places to go was spot on and made our trip even that much better. I definitely would go back.!

This is a place that should not be over-looked. The rooms are small (but what isn't in NYC?). I would recommend this hotel for anyone that understands that you are not here to spend your days in the hotel room, you are simply looking for a safe, comfy place to get a good night's rest when you finally wind down.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
