The hotel affords all that is needed for a trip to New York - a comfortable huge bed and a bathroom. Although the hotel is very close to a lot of important locations (Times Square, Penn Station, etc.) it is very quiet. Excellent location - 10 minutes to Penn Station/15 minutes to Herald Square (most important metro stations for us)... More

Felt at ease straight away with this small but central hotel. Its located on the edge of Hells Kitchen/Garment District, with about a 10 minute walk from Times Square. Theres plenty to eat around the neighbourhood and a coin laundry within walking distance. Staff were lovely and helpful, especially the English lady in reception. Room was bigger than I had... More

If you're traveling to NYC for a business convention at the Javits Center, this is an ideal place to stay, since it's only a few blocks away and within easy walking distance. The accommodations are tight (my 2-double bed room had the beds touching three walls, with 2 feet open in between), but since I did not intend to spend... More

When in New York as a tourist nothing more than a clean tidy quiet and close to the action room is required. The gem is this The helpful staff were great in providing good advice and support. Only negative is that the king size bed makes the room far to small. And with luggage it's very tight.

Stayed for a convention which was located at the Javits Center. First impression was a good one, just super tiny living quarters, which was just fine for why I was in NYC. Pros: Very friendly staff, clean, close to convention center and short walk to other area attractions, free internet Cons: Tiny rooms, loud fan, no gym

You cannot go wrong with The GEM. The staff was genuinely helpful, friendly and curteous. I believe they really cared about me. The rooms were small but that's to be expected in NYC. My only complaint: there was no conditioner!

The hotel itself was fine but the maid service was bad. One day the room wasn't actually cleaned just the beds were made, which was fine. The next day we came back and there were no towels in the room. We called the front desk and requested towels to someone who could have cared less. When we finally got a... More

Great location, the staff was incredible! Will absolutely visit this hotel again. My mother fell during our trip and the staff was more concerned about her well being than the restaurant she fell at. Jasmine is the best!

The staff, or shall I say the one person working there was nice. The room, although the size of a shoebox was clean...bed was comfortable. The air conditioner was really loud, I called to complain but they told me maintanance left for the day. Good to know if things break down at night, you're screwed. The area SUCKS. It's totally... Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
