My daughter and I stayed here in October, 2014. It was easily accessible from Penn Station and all subway lines. We were able to walk almost everywhere, as it's an easy walk up to Central Park and beyond. We arrived at 11 am, early for a check in. However, they accommodated us and found a room that was ready. The... More

I stayed here for Martin Luther King long weekend, with a special offer of 99 dlls per night. The hotel is your average Doubletree, with your welcome cookie and extremely helpful and nice staff. Location is good, two blocks awar from metro and Penn Station. Small rooms but the average size for NYC.

We went to NYC to see Fleetwood Mac and didn't want to drive so we wanted a hotel that was within walking distance to and from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. My husband and I had a room on the 23rd floor with a view of the Empire State Building; granted, you couldn't see the entire building but hi... More

Location isn't everything and this'd hotel doesn't have much else going for it. Only two small and slow elevators for 20+ floors made for long waits. My room was minuscule and lacked Doubletree basics such as a luggage rack. The lobby was small and shabby, the breakfast medicre. The room was clean, and the staff pleasant, but I won't be... More

We were very sorry to hear that our rooms were disappointing to you, Gwen B, and that you did not have a luggage rack in the room. We do provide those and will review this with our Housekeeping staff. We hope you will let us know if there is anything else we can do to improve that would have you... More

Nice, good value for money hotel in NYC. Not fancy, not in the most interesting neighborhood in NYC, but, clean, comfortable, good service, friendly staff. It would be fun if they had rooftop bar/restaurant.

This is the second time i have stayed in this hotel. It is quiet. Beds are comfortable. For a NYC hotel it was a big room. Good price. Good location. The staff is very nice. Check in process is quick and they give you a gift bag that has a great warm cookie, bottles of water and granola.

The Doubletree is tucked away on W. 29th St. The neighborhood is not especially inviting, but the hotel was welcoming and the staff excellent. Cookies were happily distributed, umbrellas made available. Room quiet, if simple. No "hipster" factor, but none needed.

Five night stay with a view of the Empire State Building (15th floor) Location excellent. Near Madison Square Gardens, we saw the Knicks little walk to Times Square but away form the bustle. A couple of good restaurants and delis on the street. Drawbacks were small gym, no laundry and 3 blocks to the nearest, lifts were a bit slow... More

I arrived on New Year's Day as a birthday treat for my daughter's 16th as well as my own. Greeted warmly by reception and handed bottle of water and a warm cookie (well received after a long journey). I had booked in online so a swift stop at reception and took the lift to my room. The room was clean... More

Nice and clean. Bit cramped in our double room but not moaning. We had a nice view of the empire state. Bar was nice as was the business area and gym. It's well located being just round from msg. Staff were very pleasant and on leaving , the manager was good enough to give my wife a little goodly bag.... More

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
