The location is strategic. Its on 46th St between the 5th and 6th AVE. A nice grocessory store right infront of the hotel. That is useful because you will have a microwave, a coffee maker, a fridge and basically a small kitchen. Our first impression (Me and wife) was the feeling that it was not very spacious. Especially after a... More

It's a hotel for Braziians. Good localization and prices. You can buy stuffs on a market close the hotel and make you cook. Clean and safe. Of course, don't wait the service of Waldorf Astoria. There's a one big problem: it's always crowded. Do the reservation with very advance.

Even though this hotel is near the best sites of NYC (2 blocks from Times Square and 1 block from the best of the 5th Ave), the local is calm and silent. The people who work there are very friendly, and the rooms are clean and usefull. I will go there again, certainly.

I stayed there for 5 days in June 2011! The place is managed by brazilians, it's located at Little Brazil Street and at the same building of Ipanema Restaurant (a very good choice for those who are missing brazilian food). The room is good, clean and there is a little kitchen inside the room but the TV didn't work well... More

It was good to stay at Ipanema Chalet. It is very simple but with a great localization and very clean. The manager, Jorge, ins't extremelly kind but he wasn't rude with me ( I agree that Jorge isn't so bad like the other guy said ). He helped me for 3 times. João is the person who cleans the rooms... The Ipanem Chalet is simple but comfortable hotel. The location is perfect (between Fifth and Sixth Avenue on the street 49th) In front of the hotel there is a 0.99 cents´s store where you can buy meals to eat in the room (there is a kitchen in the room). Very nice Place to stay.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
