Thought about giving this place 3 stars, but the manager Eric makes this a 4 star place. Don't pick this place if you are expecting a typical mainstream US hotel. This is an intimate B&B type facility with a very European feel. The only reasons this place doesn't get 5 stars are the street noise for the rooms facing 23rd... More

This past weekend I led a group of 12 Rotary Exchange high school students on a trip to NYC. Most places aren't welcoming to such a large group of students but we found the Townhouse Inn of Chelsea to be exceedingly welcoming to our group. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the common area was inviting, plenty of books in... More

This place is a hidden Gem in NYC, it is very cozy and it is also filled with great state of the art details. The Rooms are very unique with a lot of natural light and enormous compared to Manhattan spaces. The area is great as it is the real New York and there are endless restaurants and Cafes to... More

I stayed there with my sister, 1 boy and 2 babies, however the room was super spacious and clean, we could leave the room with the 2 strollers with no problem and they even put a pack and play in our bedroom (we did not use it because we brought ours). Eric was super helpful and always available. I loved... More

Thanks Eric for being so welcoming - our room felt like a home-away-from-home! Delicious croissants & coffee, a spacious room with exposed brick and sweet location in the heart of Chelsea. We'll be back! - Char

Magical place, will make you feel like home. The rooms are decorated beautifully and have that romantic, sophisticated touch. And you feel like you are visiting your boyfriends boudoir, not just a hotel room... Check it out when you are in town!!

The Chelsea Inn (or the Townhouse Inn as I think it was called), is the best value for money in Manhattan right now - and central and convenient as well. It's a mixture of an Aspen ski resort and a New York brownstone one year away from a renovation. Don't come here expecting top shelf of everything - rather go... More

Had the pleasure of staying at this lovely inn. Staff is helpful, caring and the place is clean and safe. Good Restaurants are nearby and you are very close to the meat packing district, as well as, chelsea piers area with long paths overlooking the hudson river for bikes, skates or just leisurely walking. Breakfast was thorough and well prepared.... More

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
