My partner and I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. It was our first time to NYC and we booked this hotel as it was much cheaper than others with good reviews We were greeted at the front desk by very helpful and extremely friendly staff. The room is small and has no storage for clothes, therefore we had... More

We stayed at the Gem Chelsea for 17 nights. The main reception area has recently been re-furbed & looks great. The staff were very helpful, the rooms clean, air con & free wi-fi excellent & let's not forget the rooftop - such a plus. Nothing better at the end of a long day sightseeing than to sit up there, have... More

We were very satisfied with the GEM Chelsea. I think my favorite part about it was that the hotel is small and intimate with a boutique hotel feel to it. The location is great - on the corner of West 22nd and 8th in the Chelsea neighborhood. There is a great selection of food options nearby and they run the... More

Visited NYC for the weekend. The Gem hotel was a great base to explore. It was really easy to take a lovely walk from the hotel and zigzag between all the famous Manhattan attractions on the way to Central Park. It's really close to the High Line and Meatpacking District! The Hotel is on a pretty street and was nice... More

Nice little hotel. Very friendly staff, the rooms were clean and average size for Manhattan (small). We got bagels every morning from Murray's Bagels, a half a block away, and went to the rooftop where there were several patio tables and chairs and enjoyed our breakfast and the views, incuding the Empire State Building. The location was great: 1 block... More

Whilst the rooms were small we really enjoyed our stay. We payed a little extra for a bigger room which is fair since they were full. The staff were genuinely friedly and helpful, the wifi was better than anything we had in europe in the last 2 months. Good sized flat screen tv in the room. Location was great for... More

We loved everything about this hotel. Stylish but not pretentious. Awesome location near tons of great restaurants. Small but very comfortable room (and extremely comfortable bed). Genuinely kind staff. When they saw that I was traveling with my husband and two kids the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable: offering a free upgrade to a... More

The Gem Hotel is very located on the same road as times square, it is also very close to the subway. The rooms are quite small but are kept to a very good standard everyday with fresh towels and linen. One side of the bed had metal bars coming out the side, i banged my ankle on this daily and... The room was pretty small but perfect for couples. The location is in close proximity to the subway as well as a lot of restaurants with all kinds of food. The staff was very kind and service minded, and was very glad to help in every aspect.

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
