Super clean, a little on the small side for rooms, but not at all in a bad way. More importantly, the staff is great! They have a coffee bar that is open till 1 AM, were more than happy to accommodate my strange schedule, and were generally very kind and courteous. Willie, who works the front desk at night, is... We were looking for a place in Chelsea near to our son's apartment and came across this hotel. The reviews looked great so we booked it. We had heard that the rooms were small but really didn't realize how small. There was not enough room for us to pass each other around the bed. There was a desk but you... More

Just recently stayed at the GEM Hotel‎ Chelsea for a couple nights. It’s a boutique hotel, which I found to be very conveniently located just a leisurely stroll away from a host of NYC attractions. The lobby has just been redone, and it’s really impressive. I was very pleased with the staff, who I found to be extremely polite and... More

Great response to my accommodation needs when it cam to finding a bed that would accommodate my height of 6'. I was able to really relax, sleep and enjoy my stay at the end of the day without hanging of the bed. That really impressed me with the willingness of staff to go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant... More

The rooms really are tiny, there's not even enough room for hanging clothes and women will have trouble balancing toiletries. They do their best to make smart use of space though and everything is clean and comfortable. But what the Gem Chelsea lacks in room size, it more than makes up for in service and amenities. The lobby is cozy... More

Like everyone says, it's tiny, and don't underestimate what that means. Besides the bed taking the whole room, there's no closet space, particularly if you have a long dress, there's no drawer space, and the bathroom has virtually no counter space so you may need to live out of your suitcase. All this would probably be ok for a solo.... More

We were in town for the taping of a Comedy Central show which was not available, so that was disappointing. We also missed MSNBC. Unfortunately they did have Fox, which further made me question the Hotel's selection of channels. Location is super convenient to subway line.

While the service was excellent and this little Chelsea hotel is a gem in many ways, be prepared for a very tiny room. The comfortable bed took up the entire room with little space for putting things down or away and even less room for two to move at the same time.

The most horrible experience in checking in my life....I booked a group rate for a wedding in NY. So I called and reserve my room weeks before the wedding and was given a room at the group discounted rate....So far so good. Before checking in the wedding was on a Sunday and I requested a early check in and the... More

This is a boutique hotel in a nice neighborhood, very close to the ACE subway lines, so convenient to go either uptown or downtown. Service was good and friendly but room was very small, even by Manhattan standards. The (comfortable) king bed took up most of the room. There was no place in the bathroom to put my toiletry bag;... Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
