I was recently on business in NYC. Most of the places I had to do business with were all below 25th St. I thought, what the heck, let's check out The Standard in the East Village and see how the other half live. I was not disappointed. The staff are very attentive. The rooms well appointed. Of course I was... More

After 10 plus visits to NYC over the past 12 months I have stayed at many amazing hotels. This one has something very different about it. It's the location! It's the closet I have found my self to living in NYC while still staying in a hotel. There is Heaps of restaurants barbers and even coin laundries But if your... More

I popped into the Standard with a friend for a drink since I was in the neighborhood. I wanted to check out the hotel even though I wasn't staying and the night manager Chris offered to show us around. He showed off the hotel and seemed to truly enjoy it. There is a gorgeous penthouse that can be used for... More

Smartly decorated rooms with sizable bathrooms a handsome panoramic view of NYC describes my room at The Standard East Village. Professional, courteous and accomodating describes the service I recieved at The Standard East Village. Located in walking distance to the Bowery, Alphabet City and many other hip LES neighborhoods and all the restaurants and points of interest they contain, TSEV... More

We spent a great weekend at the Standard. The East Village location has a great vibe and is close to many good restaurants. Rooms are very small but well organized. They feel a bit like cruise ship cabins. The problem is a lack of basic services and the front desk- though super friendly- cannot really help: a) there was a... More

Great bed, good sized room, an ugly wall for a view (which from reading other reviews I'd expected to see a good skyline). Staff were ok. Food menu not extensive at the cafe. Lots of roadworks in the area -Caused disruptions in getting a cab and getting in and out of the area. I wouldnt stay again

Hi MrandMsModha, So sorry to hear that our hotel did not meet your expectations. Many of our rooms offer expansive views of the city, but this may not always be the case depending on the room type. We are constantly updating our food and beverage offerings and trust me, we are ready for construction in the area to end too!... More

Great location and overall property. Highly rated the breakfast and the service of the staff. The bar is a great place to start your New York night out and the rooms are the perfect place to end it and wake up in, the morning after the night before! The floor length window was like a work of art, framing Wall... More

We stayed at the Standard East Village for 5 nights in the end of October 2014. After reading a lot of good reviews on TripAdvisor combined with pleasant experiences from earlier visits at other Standard hotels, we were really excited about the visit. Incident no. 1: After reserving an Extra Deluxe Corner King room (situated on floor 5-20) 2 months... More

I've stayed at the Standard Highline a number of times before, and figured I'd give East Village a try. I called a day ahead to request a higher room, which apparently meant a third-floor room with a sumptuous back alley view. The room was cramped and felt sort of tired. Paint was chipping, some of the floor moulding was dented,... More

I'm a big fan of both the Standard Highline and the Standard East Village. I stayed here for 5 nights during my visit to NY to run the marathon. Rooms are small but light and airy. Views are great, especially if you have a room on a higher floor. Beds are super comfy and meant I got lots of rest... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
