Spent a weekend at The East Village Standard in July and was totally blown away. The Restaurant and Cafe and Garden areas were all amazing - as was the accompanying food and drinks. Also, thanks to the hugely accommodating Front Desk, I was upgraded to a room on the 17th floor where I had beautiful, sweeping, panoramic views of the... More

We brought about 20 guests to this hotel for an event there and the entire experience was fantastic. The rooms were clean and bright with great views of the city. We held an after-party in the penthouse which offered spectacular views. But the best part was the staff! Corey, Baudouin, Alejandra and the rest of the team were simply amazing,... More

Room was amazing with a downtown uptown view of the city and was clean with everything you needed. The staff were amazing too and went above and beyond, couldn't of asked for anything more. Room service was spot on and delicious.

Rooms are of modest size, but beautifully presented with a clean and classy feel to the decor. High speed wifi was available throughout. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent with great coffee. The hotel is ideally located with a vast range of eateries and shopping within easy walking distance. Cost was very reasonable for the location.

The hotel is clean, average size rooms for NYC. Excellent bathtub and steam shower. The bar is awesome. There is always a party going on at the bar! Great atmosphere. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay downtown in the coolest area of the city.

Firstly I would like to point out that a hotels appearance, room, amenities and facilities are important but what makes a truly memorable experience is the staff. WOW were we not disappointed. When we arrived we were greeted at 11:00pm by Chris who was so friendly, he asked us about the experience we desired in NY and right away changed... More

Loved everything about this hotel, especially the views. Rooms are a little small but comfortable and well appointed, and you don't need to be a rock star to get the attention of staff either. PS: Make sure to ask for a high floor.

My wife and I stayed at the East Village Standard for two nights. We needed a hotel close to East Houston, Astor Place and St. Marks (yes, we were hitting some of the late-night clubs in the area), and the location was very ideal. We got the 250 SF room, which was a bit tight. There wasn't much room for... More

This hotel is the epitome of hip, & trendy. The second you walk in, it's like an urban paradise with hipster themes and edge. Around the corner is a bar & restaurant within the premises which I didn't have the chance to try. My boyfriend and sister loved the customer service there, especially Kelsey, who accommodated so well to our... More

Dear Rachel S, We love to receive glowing reviews from our guests but we love it even more when we see reviews praising our team members like Kelsey. I'm also happy to read that the Front Desk was able to assist with modifying your reservation and even provided alternative options to help accommodate the additional person in your room. We... We were immediately greeted by employees before we even walked in the door, and then Monique L. kindly upgraded our room--we didn't even ask! Our room was massive and extremely clean with an excellent view. The hotel is situated in a great part of town too--close to many shops and restaurants! We will certainly be back.

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
