We had floor to ceiling windows in our corner room so we had great views of downtown and could see the Williamsburg Bridge lit up at night. It's definitely your small NYC style boutique hotel room but it was manageable for my Husband and I. The location is great and is a quick walk to SOHO, China Town, Union Square... More

Perfect hotel for sightseeing in New York. The rooms are not large, but the amenities are above average, the bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in and the service is friendly and efficient. Also an excellent breakfast in the bar downstairs (not included in the price but worth paying for). You're in easy walking distance of old New... More

This young, hip, trendy hotel has the energy of the millennial generation with a friendly efficient staff. The halls are tiny, the number of rooms per floor, few, the bedroom micro sized, but the feel was luxurious. Our room was a corner postage stamp surrounded by floor to ceiling glass that made us feel as if we were floating on... More

Hotel - pretty funky, location and venue. Party seemed to go on until the early hours every night but we couldn't hear it from our room when we couldn't face it. Hotel room - wonderful bed, so comfortable. Location - lots of dining, bars, breakfast options all around. Easy reach of subway uptown or downtown. We walked a lot when... More

Hi Barrsy1, It looks like you were able to enjoy several of our Food & Beverage outlets while you were with us. I'm pleased to see you enjoyed the cuisine and service in Narcissa as well as the Cafe. We love being a part of the East Village; with all the neighborhood has to offer within walking distance. We hope... More

Small rooms, nice location. Not many per floor. Don't leave your things out or else the cleaning staff will steal them. We're down a $300 pair of Coach sunglasses my wife left on the bedside table during our multi night stay.

Hi David, Thank you for your recent review of our property. While I am pleased to hear you enjoyed the neighborhood, I must admit I'm surprised and concerned to learn of your wife's missing sunglasses. Our lost and found department could not locate any report of missing property matching your description but I would be happy to personally assist you... More

Stay on 14th floor with unobstructed Manhattan view, so no problems with noise due to the big construction work on the road. Room was great but bed was too soft and wardrobe space too small for me. The staff were very helpful and friendly. You feel that you are very welcome here. Enjoy the breakfasts at the cafe , so... More

What we loved: location (very hipster part of town with great bars and restaurants nearby and East Village, Soho, Nolita and Greenwich Village all in walking distance), quality toiletries, extremely comfortable bed, powerful shower, clean lines and contemporary room design, overall atmosphere and hipsterness, cocktails in cafe standard (Penny Drop my fav) complimentary wifi, comp gym passes, helpful staff. We normally stay uptown or midtown and wanted something a little quieter (especially after a big night out) when sleeping is all you want to do. As with most hotel rooms in NYC, you have to realign your expectations to the startling fact - they are going to be cosy. And the Standard is no different, however the welcome surprise... More

Great location, easy access to east village restaurants and bars, great staff, excellent bar. Free Wifi. Rooms small (hey, its NY) but wall of windows keeps you from feeling cramped. Ask for a room above the 8th floor and on the front for rooftop views across Coopers Square. Cons: Noise in hallway from cleaning staff can get loud (banging doors).... More

We are currently staying at the standard and it has so far been the best hotel we have stayed at in New York. The bed and pillow are heavenly and the staff are extremely welcoming. Great proximity to shops and local eaterys. It has really made our New York experience what it is! Thank you Standard hotel!!

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
