I recently stayed at the Standard East Village and it was such a cool experience. I had stayed at the previous properties in Cali and the other location in NYC the High Line but never the East Village. I was blown away by the service and the welcome I received upon checkin in and throughout my stay. I feel like... More

I am staying in the Standard East Village and have to say that it is the worst hotel I have stayed at in NYC. I normally stay at the Soho Mondrian or Soho Grande, but chose to stay here on a visit as my daughter lives close by. Our standard King was tiny with dirty carpet with no view. Just... More

While nice, bright and white, the rooms at the Standard East Village are snug for one person and too small for two. Not exactly sure where all of the luggage would go. That said, it is situated in the East Village and if just visiting NYC, you're not going to spend all that much time in the room, anyway. The... More

My first time to NYC. Picked the Standard because it was close to where my daughter had to give a presentation. Good location. Close to subway and sites at the lower side of Manhattan. Washington Square, 911, Union Square, Battery Park, Brooklyn Bridge, etc. Hotel rooms were small. Glad I upgraded to the deluxe queen room. Nicely decorated. Excellent friendly... More

After 13 years of work in NYC, I finally found my #1 favorite hotel. Small and pretty lobby (which oddly makes it feel more peaceful and calm) and the staff almost always remember me, which is nice. After a few visits I now receive a small fruit plate and a welcome in my room, which I alway appreciate and eat!... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at The Standard in the East Village for just under a week. It was absolutely delightful mainly because of the incredible front desk service. Paige consistently went above and beyond the call of duty in meeting all of our needs. She was very friendly, kind, and courteous and made us feel right at home -... More

3 or 4 years ago we stayed in the other Standard hotel (meatpacking district) & we loved it. The one in east village may not have such amazing views but very nice rooms as well & we like the area. I think price wise it is a little cheaper, but not sure I didn't make the reservation myself. In any... More

Hi Olinguita, We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us here at Standard East Village. I'm sorry though to hear about experience in the Café with the misprinted prices on the Menu's. We take all feedback seriously and will be forwarding this to our Director of Food and Beverage. During your next stay in the City,... More

This was a staycation for us (we live in the city) and we loved the vibe of this hotel. The cafe is fun, the garden seating is nice, the rooms have great views although they are on the smaller side. It seemed no one staying in this hotel is over the age of 40.

We have visited the standard at The High Line many times for brunch and drinks but have been long time devotees of the The Bowery Hotel. This time we had an offer via Tablet and decided to change. We were upgraded to a deluxe corner king which might be one of the biggest NY hotel rooms I have ever had!... More

The Standard is hands down my fav place to stay in NYC. The service and vibe is amazing and it truly gives you that New York Vibe the minute you enter the doors. (I lived in NYC for over 5 years so I like to believe that I have a good sense of what a NYC vibe is lol) The... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
