This is a great hotel. Yes, the rooms are small, but it's New York! The bathroom was great and the hotel made a good use of limited space. Loved eating breakfast in the hotel cafe. The staff was so nice. Perfect location for exploring; very walkable area.

Living in NYC and just wanting to enjoy a romantic weekend in a hotel we actually struggled to find a place that was comfortable and offer a good quality of service but not too expensive. The Standard has the solution and created a GREAT App for that: "One Night Standard". We managed to get a nice room on 8th floor... More

Tripadvisor's 4 stars stands for "very good" and 3 stars "average". The Standard in the East Village is a Good hotel. Pros : great location, good atmosphere, room had a good size, clean and confortable. Cons : The staff at the bar was catastrophic... completely disorganized and most of them should learn to smile ! The room has no charm... More

Be prepared to be disappointed with this minimalist hotel that pretends to be hip. Over expensive and rude young staff - inattentive to guest needs. This is more like a motel for the one night stand, not a guest hotel. Cafe service bad to low average. Front desk staff awful and don't care about you. No late check out or... More

I recently stayed at the Standard East Village and it was such a cool experience. I had stayed at the previous properties in Cali and the other location in NYC the High Line but never the East Village. I was blown away by the service and the welcome I received upon checkin in and throughout my stay. I feel like... More

I am staying in the Standard East Village and have to say that it is the worst hotel I have stayed at in NYC. I normally stay at the Soho Mondrian or Soho Grande, but chose to stay here on a visit as my daughter lives close by. Our standard King was tiny with dirty carpet with no view. Just... More

While nice, bright and white, the rooms at the Standard East Village are snug for one person and too small for two. Not exactly sure where all of the luggage would go. That said, it is situated in the East Village and if just visiting NYC, you're not going to spend all that much time in the room, anyway. The... More

My first time to NYC. Picked the Standard because it was close to where my daughter had to give a presentation. Good location. Close to subway and sites at the lower side of Manhattan. Washington Square, 911, Union Square, Battery Park, Brooklyn Bridge, etc. Hotel rooms were small. Glad I upgraded to the deluxe queen room. Nicely decorated. Excellent friendly... More

After 13 years of work in NYC, I finally found my #1 favorite hotel. Small and pretty lobby (which oddly makes it feel more peaceful and calm) and the staff almost always remember me, which is nice. After a few visits I now receive a small fruit plate and a welcome in my room, which I alway appreciate and eat!... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at The Standard in the East Village for just under a week. It was absolutely delightful mainly because of the incredible front desk service. Paige consistently went above and beyond the call of duty in meeting all of our needs. She was very friendly, kind, and courteous and made us feel right at home -... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
