Great location and overall property. Highly rated the breakfast and the service of the staff. The bar is a great place to start your New York night out and the rooms are the perfect place to end it and wake up in, the morning after the night before! The floor length window was like a work of art, framing Wall... More

We stayed at the Standard East Village for 5 nights in the end of October 2014. After reading a lot of good reviews on TripAdvisor combined with pleasant experiences from earlier visits at other Standard hotels, we were really excited about the visit. Incident no. 1: After reserving an Extra Deluxe Corner King room (situated on floor 5-20) 2 months... More

Hi Ludwig A, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We take pride in going the extra mile for our guests so it is very concerning to hear that your service experience was less than pleasant. I can assure you that our staff has been alerted to your review and will take it as a learning opportunity... More

I've stayed at the Standard Highline a number of times before, and figured I'd give East Village a try. I called a day ahead to request a higher room, which apparently meant a third-floor room with a sumptuous back alley view. The room was cramped and felt sort of tired. Paint was chipping, some of the floor moulding was dented,... More

I can assure you that your comments will be taken as constructive feedback among all of our staff so that we can continue to improve our guest experience. Our rooms may be on the smaller side but there is no... More

I'm a big fan of both the Standard Highline and the Standard East Village. I stayed here for 5 nights during my visit to NY to run the marathon. Rooms are small but light and airy. Views are great, especially if you have a room on a higher floor. Beds are super comfy and meant I got lots of rest... More

Pluses: The amazingly comfortable bed, nice bathroom amenity and generally friendly staff. Minuses: Staff can be a bit stiff and snotty, but not in a polished way but more in a i'm-too-hip-and-cool way. Overall, I think the hotel does a good job of making sure guests feel comfortable, and I like that they don't skimp. The bath products are great,... More

Hi Arjuna888, Thank you so much for your kind review of our hotel. We love to boast about our comfortable beds, interior design, amenities, and service, but "stiff and snotty" is never what we aspire to so thank you for bringing that to our attention. We pride ourselves on being hip and cool, but never to the point where a... More

Slightly "edgy" hotel with a cool cafe/bar and great attached restaurant - Narcissa. Located near loads of very nice restaurants and bars on Bowery! Decent size room and very clean. Cool bathroom with stand-alone bath and shower and bright silver shower curtain! Friendly staff although the cafe service for breakfast was fairly laid back

Fantastic hotel in a great location. Rooms are modern, clean with stunning views. I mentioned that we were celebrating my partners birthday and would appreciate a room on an upper floor...when we checked in our room was on the top floor. Floor to ceiling windows make the rooms feel even larger. Friendly accommodating staff and effortless check in and check... More

I've stayed at The Standard East Village many times. From the youthful friendly welcome as you check in to the incredible views of the city this hotel nails it every time. The Standard East Village is really a great experience. The lobby is very very tiny, so it has an intimate feel downstairs. The rooms are good sized especially for NYC. And they have great floor to ceiling windows (even in the bathroom though they are frosted!). Really cool modern interior. Really a great choice if you want to be in... More

    Staying in East Village

    Neighborhood Profile
    East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
