The location of the hotel is super convenient BUT the hotel was not clean with showers being blocked so I ended up standing ankle deep in someone else's water... Room are very small and cramped. I would recommend the hotel to students since it is cost effective and because of it's location. Just know that you pay for the basics.

I stayed here for 6 nights from May 7th 2015. Arrived at 11pm, the receptionist helpful and friendly, checked in very quickly. I stayed in a deluxe single room. What that means is you get a room on the 4th floor which is the "deluxe" floor. This means there are private bathrooms (four unisex plus a few more for women)... More

As New York came at the end of my backpacking trip I needed a cheap place, but a single room. I booked the Vanderbilt YMCA and I am glad I did. The room was not a fancy room, it was really small, but it had a bed and a refrigerator. My room was way down the hall so I had... More

To be honest, this is my worst experience so far with a hotel/hostel. Why? - Customer service: terrible! They're not friendly, no smiles and make you feel like you beg them for a place to sleep (for FREE) - The room is small, noisy and I can even hear every single word of the room next door - The heater... I recommend calling to confirm availability before booking online. I booked online, but found out subsequently there was not actually a room available (though they offered me a room at the Greenpoint location).

Room was small, but I was only there to sleep and take a shower, out most of the day. The place was surprisingly quiet when I was in my room. Bathrooms and showers, even though shared, was basically available at all time I was there. No need to wait or line up to use any of the amenities. Location was... More

I am a member of the YMCA and I got a 10% discount of the already reasonable price. The staff were all amazingly friendly and i was happy to be able to use the pool to do my laps in the morning. They held onto my luggage for free as I checked in too early and for $2, they held... More

My impression of the place was a bit too big and busy for my taste. I prefer a small and cosy hostel. This was huge and clean and very effective, but lacked in personality. Also I had 67 steps to walk to go to the rest room. That is too far.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
