The YMCA was an ideal choice of accommodation for 24 students on a half term break. Perfect location within easy walking distance of all the main attractions. The double rooms were small, some very small and incredibly hot and basic but all very clean and just what was needed for a school trip. All of our rooms had bunk beds... More

We stayed at the YMCA purely out of practicality - it was the most affordable hotel we could find and perfectly located, just a few minutes walk from grand central station and about 20 minutes from Times Square. The room was very small and basic but very clean and had everything we needed, with two bunk beds, a tv and... More

This is the YMCA! A nice, clean room with the bare essentials: bed, desk, 'fridge, WiFi and TV. Bathroom down the hall. Excellent gyms for weights and cardio! Concierge on duty during the day and wonderful security! I don't spend time in my room except for mostly sleep, so all I need is what they provide. They do have larger... More

Stayed in December. Our room was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. The door did not open fully before it hit the bunk beds and was an odd shape room at the end of a corridor. The bunk bed ladder broke and the bunk beds were old and rickety. In fact, all the furniture was old and in... More

I stayed at the YMCA Vanderbilt hostel one night in mid-August last year. My room was a single one without the bathroom. Everything looked old and kind-of-crappy, but honestly, it was not dirty (even the bathroom was clean). The room was kinda small and the bed and furniture were not great, but hey it's a hostel. Noise was acceptable, but... More

I enjoyed my stay here, mainly because e47th is a great location. I was upgraded from a dorm to a single room, which was amazing. I mean, still pretty small but having privacy was great. There was a free gym which I kept meaning to use.. ahem. 24hr card access was great, and the staff were helpful. Plastic sheets on... More

Great location, only a small walk to Rockefeller Plaza, and the subway station, and a few blocks from Central Park. Room we had was quite small, but comfortable. Wifi was good, but didn't work too well in our room. Overall a reasonable price for the location.

We stayed here for 4 nights and we never had any problems. We arrived way before check in time and the receptionist allowed us to enter our room, because it wasn't used the night before. We had a double private room (bunk beds). It felt cramped but we had a fridge. However we had no control over the heating, so... More

It is extremely dirty and so small room that you can not even walk or leave your luggage etc...., the receptionists are not friendly at all, it is very expensive for the price you pay. The location was not that bad.

Stayed with my girlfriend, the price is good if you're traveling with someone else, otherwise for solo travellers it's a little bit expensive. Staff is good, they allowed us to early check-in. It's very clean and the only problem is that the room is very, very tiny, smaller than a cruise ship room. Beds are very good and they have... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
