The rooms are extremely small even for New York standards and the bathrooms were not enough for the amount of people staying there. The location is perfect. I think there are hotels that offer a better service for the same price, a bit expensive for what it offers

Inexpensive, clean and great location. Besides the Seafarer, The Vanderbilt is excellent when you are in a budget. Close to transportation (subway and shuttles to the Newark and La Guardia airports) and a walking distance from the Broadway food market and 42th St. You can use the YMCA fitness center. Porter 24 hours.

The room was great. Single room with comfortable bed. Air conditioner worked well. Shared bathroom facilities which were clean. Helpful and humorous staff. Central location, easy walking distance to major locations. Would recommend and would stay here again myself.

Rooms are clean and air conditioned but very tiny. The bathroom in our case was shared (clean and ok but still...). Staff was friendly. They have some nice gym facilities in the first floor. There is no restaurant, so you have to eat outside. However, this is a place where location is crucial - close to subway and within a... More

Accommodation in NYC is expensive, this won't be a surprise to anybody who has checked. That being said, the YMCA is a great alternative and you get exactly what you pay for. New towels each day, beds are made and rooms are clean. Room was modern (5th floor, recently renovated) with clean linen, new furniture and a flat screen TV.... More

I stayed here for one night. Room was very small but ok for one night. Aircon noisey but fan ok seeing it was not that hot it was ok but normally would not have been able to put up with it. Shared bathroom which was ok, not super clean but adequate, shower hat good pressure and hot water. Great location... More

The rooms are tiny, but very clean. The bathrooms, kitchens and other Y type facilities were clean and well managed. The neighborhood was safe and quite nice, with a good number of stores, including eating establishments. As important as anything else, every staff member I encountered was extremely nice, helpful and very knowledgeable about the city. Yes, the rooms were... More

Our room was very small, two people standing was nearly impossible. WE also had ants in the room. The little fridge was nice, also the bathrooms, in the Deluxe Rooms (we got upgraded) were nice and big. The kitchen was unequipped (only some plastic cups, plastic knives and plastic plates). We could use the gym, although you have to bring... More

I solo traveled to the Vanderbilt YMCA for four nights back in March. The location is great, within a ten minute walk of multiple Subway stations, and the place itself was clean, with the only problem being that I had no control over the heating in my room, which was decently equipped with storage space, sockets and a TV. The... More

I stayed here in the christmas holidays of last year with my school, my only positive is the location. Firstly, arrival was okay, we were welcomed when we arrived at 11pm by a member of staff who told us about the YMCA and also gave us the wifi code and by that time we just wanted to go to bed!... Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
