I just spent two nights at this hotel and am OVERLY pleased with the service, cleanliness, location and everything.. Really truly wonderful. I'm not sure what happened with the folks on here who said they got horrible service because everyone was so pleasant, nice, and helpful to us. The room was upgraded for free since they had extra space available... More

We travel frequently - this is the 3rd trip to NYC in 3 weeks. We were just in Rome and London. We've been to this hotel 3 times. Each time we have terrible service, but we love the location so we keep giving them another chance. During this current stay it's clear we should only ever expect the poor service... More

Normally, my husband and I stay in Midtown Manhattan - East, but on the advice of friends that live in NYC we stayed at the Thompson LES. First impressions of the hotel is that it is extremely modern and extremely "hip." The front desk staff was not overly friendly or attentive. The room we received was small, but it's the... More

If you want to experience what its like to live and play in one of NY city's hippest downtown areas, the Thompson LES is the ticket. There is the vibe and the feel , the luxurious bedding, the amazing showers, the cozy/chic 2nd floor lobby lounge, and the views out the glass fronted rooms. Then there is the amazing freshness... This was our first stay at the Thompson. It was definitely as hip as it was conveyed on the web. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious- especially for NYC. We were treated very well by the desk staff- even though we had a very late arrival due to weather delays. When we arrived, we were upgraded to... More

My girlfriend and I were staying in NYC for my best friends wedding. First the good stuff. The hotel is in a good location if you are looking for a weekend in the Lower East Side. Loads of great bars (try the Double Crown) and great restaurants (Eight Mile Creek) Now for the not so great stuff. We checked in... More

I was just looking for a nice weekend getaway with some friends and someone recommended the Thompson LES hotel. From the moment I arrived the service was amazing! I was greeted at the curb by the bellman and was surprised that once I had arrived at the front desk, they already knew my name! Not only was the staff helpful... More

The Thompson LES is a great hotel, we were greeted on the street by the bellhop, and the service was excellent from the minute we got there, to the minute we left! The room was perfectly clean, and the view from the 17th floor was stunning. The bathroom was great, and the shower to die for. We wish we could... More

Have just returned from 3 nights at the Thompson LES. This was my second stay at the property and once again I was blown away by the great hospitality that I received from every one on their staff. Reservations took care of my requests for three rooms for myself and friends and family who were staying and went above and... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
