The rooms were very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Located between 94th and Broadway. Close to the metro station. A couple of streets over on Amsterdam Avenue were good restaurants and close to Central Park West where you can take a walk in Central Park. The hotel's restaurant/diner was very good--Manhattan Diner--with room service.

We recenlty stayed at the Hotel Newton. It is a definite budget hotel but it is clean, efficient, and very well located. Pros: Friendly, fast check in--even though i arrived early my room was ready and immaculately cleaned by "Carmelita." (I know her name as she was standing by the desk as I checked in). Clean, while basic, with nice... More

Located at 96th and Broadway (1, 2, 3) lines, this hotel is a very good value. The rooms are fairly basic, but not as tiny as you often see in NY hotels (and the suite is quite nice if you get an upgrade, as I did once). It would make for good launching pad since the subway runs to everywhere... More

Good: Close to restaurants and to the subway. Clean. Bad: Very insufficient soundproof, you will hear everything from next room. They charge for Internet, come on, it is 2014! Sharing of bath. That is something I missed when I booked, and I do not like it. Cigarette smoke in the corridor and in the bath. I suspect that it comes... More

We spent quite a while trying to find a reasonably priced hotel in New York which was close to transport links , restaurants and the sights but this hotel was as good as it gets at NY prices. It was graduation week so prices were higher than normal but with little choice of travel dates we had to pay. Having... More

Nice place to stay. Right by the subway, close to Central Park. Not noisy at night. Great staff. Not fancy, but not too expensive either. I would stay again. Only complaint is if we ran the a/c and microwave or hair dryer at the same time it blew a fuse. They fixed it quickly.

Thank you for your review of our property and I am happy that besides the electricity issue, all was a success. I believe I know who you are and after your stay, we changed the circuit breaker and all is now fixed and you can run both at the same time. We are so sorry for the inconvenience and we... More

I think it would be quite difficult to find accommodation in New York as reasonable as this Hotel. It is in a good location, handy to the train, shops, restaurants, Central Park. Our room was small and we shared a bathroom but hardly had to wait to use it. Other rooms were very well appointed and large but they would... More

We cannot underestimate the service received from the staff but was not happy with the size of the room. It was not much bigger than a lift and was packed with furniture. We know its expensive to stay in New York but expected better

Thank you for your review of our property. It does sound to me like you may have stayed in our Standard single which are our smallest rooms. The pictures on our website are the exact pictures of the rooms. We do not carry showrooms at the Hotel Newton as we feel it is a bit deceiving. In the future, you... More

I payed in advance good money for a very tiny room which I could barely have space for packing and unpacking. The high price just does not justify. Friendly staff and good location though. Right in front of the subway. ---------------------

Thank you for your review of our property. I am thankful that all seemed to go well. It sounds like you may have stayed in our Standard Single room with one twin bed, which I totally agree is a small room which runs about $30 to $50 below the other rooms for this reason. We are very careful to display... More

Stayed for 7 nights. Arrived early and the room was available, which is always a bonus. Second floor room was great as we never had to use the elevator. The hotel and room were remarkably clean. Housekeeping did a great job as there was always replacements of coffee, soap, etc. Room was typical size for a NY hotel. Microwave and... More
