My husband and I were in NYC for business, and booked the Newton for its convenient location. We showed up four hours before checking, and our room wasn't ready. No big deal, we had expected that. So we left our luggage and walked around the city. Showed up at check-in time, and there were still no rooms available. We were... More

This reminds me of the hotels students stayed in as a getaway from Columbia University. Very close to 96th St subway, bus stops, banks and a great deli two doors south with authentic NY deli foods. And as previous reviewers attest, spotless, with very accommodating staff.

I've lost count of how many times we have stayed at The Newton. This stay, like all of the others was very good. One should set expectations correctly when considering this hotel. It is not a luxury 5-star hotel, but for the cost-conscious traveler, it is a clean, comfortable hotel in an excellent location Pros: Clean rooms - excellent housekeeping... More

My wife, and I attended NYC for the first time for our 10 year anniversary this weekend. I googled, and reviewed every hotel in NYC looking for that perfect place as far as a great hotel in a great location that wasn't in the pricey pricey area. Wow! Did I ever pick the best one. Upon arriving, we were greeted... More

I spent 3 nights here in a tiny single room - but everything worked as it should. The hotel appears a bit shabby, but reasonably clean and functional. Location was not too bad; subway station is nearby. It's more a residential area and there are plenty of restaurants around. Lack of free wifi was a nuisance as it was free... More

Solid Manhattan "budget" hotel, with good location on Broadway. Easy walk to 96th St subway station, many restaurants and bars. We had a top floor "Superior Queen" room, which was of reasonable size (for Manhattan), with an updated bath, fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Lobby, hallways, and room were very clean. Expect the usual NYC old building charm - creaky... More

Stayed here with a family of four. We enjoyed this clean hotel. A bit noisy at the streetsite but that didn't bother us. We loved the location, close to the Subway 1,2 and 3 which take you through the city. Central Park is also close by.

The Newton is well situated on upper Broadway at 95th St. - close to IRT, Central Park, Columbia U., Symphony Center, and shops. Nice quiet rooms were not too small (for NYC). But our window AC needed cleaning (mold!) and WiFi is extra!

We stayed for 5 nights at the Hotel Newton. The room was small but comfortable and the fridge and coffee maker were a bonus. The hotel is close to the subway and close to Central Park. The area has a range of good dining options and a great bagel shop a few blocks away. This area was quiet and was... More
