Being used to staying more downtown, we were very happy with this hotel. It is on the upper, upper west side, but in a fairly quiet neighborhood. As we were in town for an opera and shows, it proved perfect. The subway is very close nearby and within minutes, we were at times square. The rooms are smaller, but clean,... More

Recently stayed for a honeymoon, the hotel itself was a nice hotel but was a fair bit out the way from most attractions. This is and isn't a bad thing, it is if you like to walk everywhere but at same time has a subway on it's doorstep so gives an opportunity to use the subway. We had a junior... More

Another trip to NYC, another fun hotel. Went searching for small hotel on the upper west side and found Hotel Newtown. It's squeezed between a couple stores but don't let that dissuade you. The lobby is really nice. Desk clerks were VERY friendly and helpful. (one employee even gave me his subway pass to use). Subway is a stones throw... More

In a very accessible area, right next to a subway station, this hotel is a very comfortable and nice place to stay! Rooms are big and beds extremely comfortable! Staff are friendly and very helpful! The only concern is the lift was slightly dodgy on our trip but was being fixed! Would definitely recommend a stay here!

Historical building from 1920/1930, much more charming than modern hotels. Lived in room 507 on Valentines day, good for the price. Wifi worked perfect, also for Skype call. In reception they printed boarding passes - and gave perfect directions to subway driving. Also perfect wifi in lobby, which I used for skype calling, and cafe-like environment. Lobby inspired me to... More

Great location right in the heart of the city. Although the bathroom was shared it was well maintained. Lots of good food and transport options within walking distance. Well worth the price for a quick stop over in the city.

I actually stayed here a while back. This hotel was a last minute choice, and i was wary of the location. More because it's on 95th street in Manhattan. I needn't have worried. It right at 96th street subway station. Which is an express stop. You can be anywhere pretty quickly. I actually enjoyed the less touristy, local feel. There... More

Me and my wife stayed there for our honeymoon, early December. Room was clean but small, but it was expected for the price compared to other hotels in New York. Location is perfect, central park is just a few blocks away within walking distance and subway station is less than a block from the hotel. We tried the manhattan dinner... More
