We booked the hotel for Columbus long weekend. The room I got was on the first floor. It was clean and blankets smell nice and fresh. I was so happy to stay in this hotel as everything is close by and the stuff are nice. It's not a problem sharing bathrooms at all because they are clean and not a... More

I stayed for 2 nights, staying at 12c on the 3rd floor. When I first came, I was given an option to choose from and I chose this room done by Japanese artist. Nice ambience. The staff is very helpful and carried my luggage to the 3rd floor, much appreciated though i don't know his name. Shared toilet and shower... More

This hotel is a hidden gem! I stayed here and found the location to be excellent and also the staff very accommodating! The rooms are quirky and clean. I swapped rooms a few times just to get the experience of the alternate environments on offer. This place isn't for everyone, but I have no complaints!!!

Fantastic location - you can walk to all points downtown and in midtown. Plenty of places for a cheap meal nearby, and some ok bars (although better to go drinking in a different neighbourhood). The staff were mainly really nice and laid-back, and I enjoyed talking to them. One guy (glasses, black, quite tall) was a bit rude, clearly enjoying... More

My absolutely favourite hotel of all. Also practically the cheapest one which is incredible given its location in the heart of Manhattan. The most unique experience!!! And feels like home on the other half of the globe. I admit, you need to be used to student dorms conditions. The standard was a bit overwhelming for me on my first visit... More

Stayed for multiple nights. Overall this was one of the best and most atmospheric experiences I've had in any hostel. One negative thing though, which could be a problem to some. The bed was quite terrible. I could actually feel the springs. Very noisy too. I got used to it quickly because I generally sleep well anywhere. But I realize... More

I can't believe I've not reviewed this place before. I first stayed here in the mid eighties and have been back half a dozen times. I first stayed as a traveling bachelor the last time with my wife and two teenaged daughters. Go with an open mind and you'll love this quirky place. If they aren't too full ask to... More

This is a quirky art-themed hostel type hotel in a good area near 23st Subway. Its affordable and for the budget traveller. Plus points: no one enters your room to clean so you dont have to worry about vacating your room during the day, 2 lovely cats to play with, pleasant reading/PC room, can choose your room. Minus points: bed... More

this hotel ain't for the faint of heart. it's true grit, an artful New York rooming house with each room painted by a different artists. yes the floors are a tad tilted, yes there are two cats wandering around, yes the linens are mismatched, yes it's not 5-star spotless. it's a grand, gritty, beautifully NYC hostel steps from the east...
