This hotel is in my opinion rather a hostel than a hotel. It has shared bathrooms and toilets on the floors. The rooms are all uniquely designed by different artist and every floor has its own "theme". We have a very indian like room, pretty colorful and with Shiva and Ganesh and other indian gods painted. Our little daughter (1... More

Myself and my best friend were walking around New York City looking for a hotel for the night, as we had no where to Stay. Walking for a couple of hours we strolled past this hotel. Walking up the stairs to the hotel we could already see that this hotel was bizarre but is totally different to any hotel we... More

No elevator, no AC, narrow hallways, small rooms BUT great fun. Every room created by an individual artist, ours by Francisco Franciscus, hallways, ceilings likewise. Very helpful staff, clean and prices like non-New York! My rating above is on the basis of standard metrics. I would definitely go there again, though my wife might not do so.

I chose the place for the location over anything in this skyrocketting hotel prices, which I believe insane, even though I had a place to stay somewhere else in the city. I see other people's bad experiences, however, I think the quality is fair for the price they charge. As long as one understands economics of this capitalist city, the... More

Any hotel that doesn't have a mirror in the bathroom or by the sink (there was no sink in the bathroom) can't get too high a rating in my book. Art was cool, but place felt gross. Ironing boards should be standard. Room got cold. And the one small lock wasn't enough to make one feel safe. Location is amazing... More

Keep away from here we booked a room here , and at the moment of our arrival they told us , they did not have any room available, dedpite the fact we reserved one in advance , worst experience ever, it was in the middle of the night, it was cold as hell outside, what a bunch of incompetents.

My and wife and I booked this hotel for its location after staying in the East Village last May and as much as we loved the scene round there, the 20 minute trek to the subway each day for two weeks got tiresome fast. With two subway stations a mere 7 minute walk away the location was bliss! The bagel... More

If you want to explore NYC and around, this place is a good option. It is really well located, close to a metro station, restaurants, coffee shops and bars. The price is reasonable, considering you are in Manhattan. If you are artsy or just sensitive to arts, you will adore this place. It has a cool backpacker hostel vibe but... More

How can I sum up this hotel other than terrible awful and purely miserable hotel. Yes so we kind of knew what we were letting ourselves in for by booking (however tip be careful when booking Carlton Hotel as sometimes the two are easy to mix up!) and only wanted somewhere to rest between the busy attractions but were not...
