Front desk service was bad. I asked for a crib with my original reservation. It wasn't in my room when I got there. I called the front desk to ask them to bring it. They told me they would look for one. Two hours later, I called back to get status on my crib. They again told me they would... more

We were visiting Carlsbad Caverns and stayed at the Stevens Inn for one night. The Stevens Inn is big, older, but not a bad choice. We have stayed here previously. The hotel is in need of a complete remodel, and they have begun to remodel rooms. We stayed in a remodeled room, and liked the room very much. The two... more

The motel is older and has many rooms. We stayed in a two queen bed suite that had a small living room/kitchen area with a couch and a table with four chairs. Pleasing cowboy-theme artwork decorated the walls. The beds felt new and quite comfortable. The living room/kitchen area seemed worn, but functional. There was a TV in the living... more

After reading reviews of this hotel online, I thought it would be a perfect spot to stay after visiting Carlsbad Caverns. I was wrong. Although the property has a very nice restaurant and a good breakfast buffet, the rooms are old, musty and badly need to be updated. After checking in at the front desk, we were given key cards... more

Carlsbad was a stop on the way home from where we visited (Ruidoso) to home (Austin, TX). On our long road trip, we decided to plan a stop in Carlsbad to visit the caverns (gorgeous!). We looked around for a place to stay and were leery-- there's not a whole lot going on in Carlsbad. We had actually booked a... more

The hotel was old and the room was marginally ok for two nights. The restaurant "The Flume" served me the single worst meal I have ever had in my life. A partially cooked chicken breast, mashed potatoes that I swear had been scraped up off the floor, and mixed vegetables that were so hard and overdone I couldn't bite through... more

Booked the room at the last minute as we were traveling through. The room was no smoking but smelled like it had only recently changed to that designation. Rooms were very large. Internet was extremely slow. The shower/toilet area was not ventilated so you had to rely on the steam to warm up that area. The free breakfast was nice. more

I echo other suggestions - make sure you ask for a room in the NEW section - much better than the OLD section. My room was fine - clean, good size. Location is right in the middle of town. Buffet breakfast was the worst I've ever had - cold runny eggs, cold fatty bacon, cold potatos. If you have a... more

I was not impressed at all with this hotel. The reasons may be the unidentifiable stain on the sheets or maybe the mold that was on the shower ceiling. This is supposed to be the nicest hotel in Carlsbad, but I'm glad to see there are more choices moving into town so maybe the hotel will raise its standards because... more

We have rather mixed feelings about this hotel. It has it's plusses and minuses. The pluses are the restaurant, size of rooms and location. The restaurant is quite good food, which is where we ate for dinner. It actually is in direct conflict with the rest of the hotel because the restaurant is really nice, but the hotel really isn't... more
