We arrived in Carlsbad late on a random Monday night with no reservations, to find that all the big hotels in town were booked due to a softball tournament in town. When we learned that this hotel was the only option in town, I pulled up the tripadvisor.com reviews and panicked. Not having much other choice, we stayed, and I... more

Last month we booked a room using hotel.com. The hotel was neglected and filthy. Not fresh dirty but prolonged bad management. Insects in room, hair on walls and in beds, broken furniture and new electrical conduit that prevented closing the curtain. I cancelled after one night to discover much nicer hotels with larger, better appointed rooms for much less than... more

This hotel was full of smells, not the good kind. I couldn't place the smell in the lobby, but it made my nose hurt. Room smelled like pee, must've been a pet room. I couldn't sit on the floor. Best thing I could say about our stay is that the free breakfast was worth the stay. 4 choices of cereal,... more

This place was so bad that even the roaches seemed disgusted. And, this motel was certainly unfit for roaches, let alone people. This place was bad enough that we left to stay at another motel after having already paid for two rooms. Here is an itemization of the experience: 1. The bathroom was filled with many large dead roaches that... more

This is an older property which shows its age, but my room was acceptable for a budget motel. On the plus side, my room was quiet in spite of high building occupancy. This could be due to concrete floors. Although old, the property may be better constructed then newer budget properties which tend to have wood beam floors. Cleanliness was... more

The property has recently changed hands, and maybe in a year this will be a decent place. But right now, it's bad enough that after having paid for the room, we walked out and stayed elsewhere (we had dinner before actually going to the room, and their (quite reasonable) policy is no refund after 30 minutes). In it's current state,... more

When we checked in, the man swiped our card without telling us how much the room would be. In fact, he hardly spoke to us the whole time except to ask name, address, etc. with a whole line of men standing behind us (two women). The carpet had dusty footprints on it and the toilet seat had a urine spot.... more

The Ritz Carleton it is not but for the price, it is worth the stay. The rooms are clean with plenty of fresh towels. Beds were comfortable and room was quiet. The rooms are on par with other major low budget hotel chains. The continental breakfast was OK but average. The hotel has a lounge and an outside patio area... more

I don't have high expectations for a motel, all I really want is a fairly comfortable bed and a quiet night of sleep. I got that from this motel. The room seemed reasonably clean, too. It is 70's and not updated (obvious when you drive up), but that doesn't matter to me. I slept so well we stayed a second... more

My wife and I just finished a second fairly long stay 8 nights at this place. Our travel over the years have been budget minded to 5 Star tours. We were looking for comfort and a good rate this time. We found both here, and did not expect a doorman and mint under the pillow. On the way down was... more
