This hotel is in an old bank building - the San Diego Bank & Trust which went out of business in the 1920s (assuming a victim of the depression). The lobby is very ornate for a Courtyard and has lots of marble and granite. I was there for a business meeting and it was held underground in The Vault. On... More

This hotel is everything you may expect-----great people giving great service etc. But what makes it stand out is it's architecture and it's past!! One simply cannot fail to be absolutely knocked-out by the beauty of the reception area, and the quite unbelievable vaults. Add to this the many artefacts scattered around the place, and you have an experience which... More

Came down for a quick weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel is beautiful and it feels like stepping back in time. The staff is great, welcoming and very helpful. Ryann at the front desk warmly greeted us and checked us in. Every hotel needs a Ryann to help their guests feel at home. We stayed in one of... More

What a terrific stay. From check to check out. Maximilian especially with authentic and personal style. Josh and Kevin too! I booked a return before I departed. Bravo! Courtyard! My new downtown spot.

The Marriott hotels are very tricky to find in San Diego! There are so many and the addresses are all jumbled up online so they should really fix this because we turned up to a different hotel on the first try. When we made it, the valet parking was very welcomed as it is in Downtown and it's very difficult... More

I called the Marriott last minute after checking out of the Sheraton Marina Resort (you can read my review if you wish). Marriott staff were accommodating and helpful. I was fortunate that they had rooms available. The front desk staff recommended a room for me with a city view on an upper level. I was told that the hotel was... More

Love the location! This hotel is in the heart of the gas lamp district and not far from little Italy. Perfect for a friends/family visit to San Diego. Public transportation is easily accessible within a few blocks. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The Food in the hotel is also amazing!

Great building , 1920 something bank . Rooms very comfortable. Surprisingly quiet for being on a busy street . Great staff. Bar staff amazing 5 stars to them. Walking distance to most downtown attractions as well as waterfront. The only downside is it is at the very end of the Gaslamp and some shady folks cruising round the building. Parking... More

The hotel lobby is gorgeous and there is a vault because it use to be a bank back in the day. My complaint is the rooms are super small compared to the pictures online. Also although the staff is sweet they don't really seem knowledgeable on the downtown area but still some of the staff were sweet except one which... More

Thank you for your review ALC1995. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our wonderful historic architecture and history during your visit. I would also like to apologize if the staff was not able to provide information regarding the downtown area. Our staff is usually experts in the Gaslamp district, therefore, this is concerning that they were not able... More

Old bank building with great old bones! Ask to tour the vault and top floor. If you are nice you may get to see the presidential suite. Great bartenders making wonderful drinks! Large lobby in an old bank setting.
