Small rooms, heard the trains pass by right outside the window every 30 minutes, staff uninterested in bringing enough towels for three people - had to go wait them out. For $169 a night, I expected much, much better. more

The rooms are like cozy studio apartments. Steps away from the Boardwalk and the train. Free continental breakfast and snacks at night. Only downfall is close proximity to the Amtrak train tracks. more

We looked at a number of $300+ dollar options for San Diego to stay in the Gaslamp area. Now having seen the Gaslamp area, I was just as happy walking to the area & saving 50%. There is definitely a train noise issue -- it is not a train in the distance but it did not bother us. The service... more

Great hotel, great location but will note that it is right by the train tracks and close to airport which you do hear flights and can really hear the train, however keep in mind train traffic stops at about 10:30 pm and then air traffic. there after. But great service, great product and good value more

I wish I had read the other reviews before picking this Residence Inn. It fronts a four lane highways with constant trafic noise. Loud train wistles blow on a regular basis and both commercial and military planes and helicopters drone overhead. On top of that we had the navy testing their cannons when we arrived; loud noises every minute or... more

You know you're in trouble when you check in and there are already ear plugs left at your bedside. I stay in a variety of Marriotts more than 100 nights per year and have never seen hotel-supplied earplugs at your bedside before. One night here and you'll know why. Trains pass at all hours of the day and night. If... more

My wife and I visited San Diego for a convention that I was attending. We were a bit apprehensive about staying there due to the negative reviews regarding noise from the trolleys and trains. We're glad that we didn't listen to those reviewers and decide to stay elsewhere. The noise was never really a factor and the customer service was... more

We stayed here two nights in a one bedroom suite. Rooms were the standard Residence inn style and comfort. As always they were clean and fine. Residence Inn is a perfect choice for families of 4 the pull out for the kids and bed for the adults is perfect. Train noise was noticeable but didn't wake me or my wife... more

I really had an enjoyable stay at this hotel despite the noise. The staff is very nice. We had a two bedroom suite and it felt like an apartment instead of a hotel...very comfortable. The breakfasts were much nicer than you usually find. The problem is that there are two trains that run behind the hotel that are annoying until... more
