What a beautiful hotel. It is centrally located to downtown, Balboa Park, Kensington and about 15 minutes from the beaches. It has an amazing pool and beautiful old Hollywood decor. The staff was super friendly and went out of their way for us. They even put a refrigerator in our room! Our room was incredibly spacious. We were traveling with... More

The hotel had a lot of old world charm. The rooms were lovely and well cared for. Its location is convenient to all of San Diego’s attractions. There was a coffee shop and steakhouse on the premises for dining as well as a well stocked bar. The staff was friendly and very helpful is assisting us with booking museum tours... More

This hotel was really lovely. When you first drive up, you don't expect it to be as nice as it is. The surrounding area is a bit deceptive- not dangerous, but not necessarily charming either. When you walk into the lobby, though, you are swept away! The staff was so friendly and helpful and the rooms were spacious enough. The... More

We stayed at the Lafayette from 9/4 to 9/6/2014. We generally like modern hotels but this retro 40's hotel exceeded our expectations. It originally opened in 1946 and the bartender told us that Bob Hope was the first registered guest. The location is very close to Balboa Park and the Zoo. We checked in with Meme (sp?) at the front... More

The Lafayette Hotel came recommended to me by a friend who said indicated it was a good location and a great price for San Diego. While I didn't explore much immediately around the hotel, it was a quick drive to most of the location attractions I wanted to see as well as the airport. Only complaint I have is that... More

We stayed at the Lafayette Hotel from 8/31 thru 9 /3 and had a great experience. They have one of the coolest hotel pools ever in fact it was is Olympic size pool designed by the original Tarzan. In fact the LHSC still keeps that old school Hollywood feel. Back in the day it was a posh place for the... More

This hotel is billed as a boutique hotel experience but felt like a step above a Days Inn. I got a poolside room and the balcony overlooking the pool was the one great aspect. Issue 1: Not furnished well. Just one dresser and a rocking chair in the giant room. No desk for working, no nightstands on opposite ends of... More

My husband and I found ourselves having to stay in San Diego on an unplanned visit. The Lafayette came to the rescue. It was 9pm and we needed a room and the front desk staff were wonderful, Thanks Mimi and Ronan you made a difficult situation easier to handle. The staff is friendly, the hotel clean. Love the vibe from... More

The Lafayette is great hotel with super amenities and helpful folks at the front desk. The pool is huge and all the guests flock to it, especially on the weekends. The restaurants and bar are well located near the lobby for the guests to use and the food/drinks are well done. There is good security day and night.
