it's elegant every piece of furniture, art work, even the carpet in the hotel and the room. it's historical which means it's old, so the ac is loud in the room and it could be noisy when your neighbor is taking a shower. but overall, it's a very nice hotel no wonder many U.S. Presidents have stayed at this hotel. more

I stayed at this hotel for two nights on a recent business trip. The room was fine, and I enjoyed the Victorian touches. Small things you might expect elsewhere were missing, however. Pens/writing paper not in desk, no wastebasket by desk, etc. No business center, no room service. It has a bar/dining room, but it seemed closed at all times... more

Rooms are small and in serious need of update. Bathrooms are impossible to get ready in. On a good note, in great area and fireplaces in each room. more

We were walked from the Hyatt Manchester Grand, an amazing hotel on the water, to this dump. Even the hotel staff at the Hyatt apologized, saying it was literally the last hotel in the city with rooms available. There was a huge convention over the 4th of July holiday, and everywhere was sold out. When we walked into the hotel,... more

I opted to stay here instead of at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, where my conference was held, in order to escape the masses of business people and relax at night in a great location. This place is optimally located and charmingly decorated. My room had a fireplace and lots of great old-fashioned details to give it a very cozy feeling.... more

My wife and I stayed at the Horton for 4 days. Upon check in, once the elevator arrived at the third floor we were greeted by a glass enclosed scene of old-fashioned stuffed dummies that reminded me of Chucky of movie fame. It was scary. I hated to take that particular elevator again. Once we got to our tiny, tiny,... more

The position of this hotel can't be faulted. In the heart of the Gaslamp quarter within easy reach of the harbour front with all it's shops and restaurants the hotel couldn't be better placed if it had been moved there... which it has, brick by brick and apparantly, ghost by ghost. Modern it ain't, but it doesn't pretend to be.... more

Took my lady to the Horton Grand for a romantic weekend. The room was beautiful with an Old Fashioned Victorian Decor. There are also other nuances that added to the ambiance of the place. There is a restaurant on site, but it seems to only be open for breakfast and it is pretty plain. There are much better choices in... more

After reading some of the reviews for The Horton Grand Hotel, we find it difficult to believe they stayed in the same hotel that we enjoyed for five nights. We loved The Horton Grand! The front desk people were helpful, friendly and available 24 hours a day. The rooms were lovely, clean and well-appointed. The hotel is in one of... more

We just got back from our trip and were extremely disappointed with the whole experience. Upon check-in, we waited for the hostess to get off her personal call to help us check in. We had a courtyard room that was extremely dark, even at 10:00 in the morning. So we had all the lights on all the time. The air... more
