This was a really great hotel. Very charming. I loved that they had a small "quickie mart" next to the front desk so you could get a soda, aspirin, etc. The courtyard is beautiful and the staff was friendly. The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring Market Street or taking a short stroll to Seaport Village. However, it's... More

Can't recommend this hotel enough - particularly Heather, the concierge and Ken at the front desk. My guy was there for an event on his birthday. All he can talk about is how lovely it is. Anyway, Ken and Heather were enormously helpful in making his day special and - what's even cooler - they seemed to genuinely enjoy the... More

I stay here and was impress with how good it looked for being as old as it was. I had a decent stay but my allergies were aggravated from the old carpets and drapes. Other than that I was pleased with the stay but wish they would get rid of more of the dust.

nice rooms, gas fire place (low flame). Closet is free standing, kinda small. Keep in mind Hotel in not new but rather aged (though modernized). Tours go though lobby area. So if early / light sleeper, avoid rooms near stars by main Island Ave. can sometimes hear floor above squeaking from people walking. Palace bar (plenty of Whiskeys) adjoins the... More

This hotel is not the new, modern, swanky hotel that many people enjoy but, rather this is a very good representation of the Gas Lamp District in which it sits. The elevator, the halls, even the beautiful lobby has that Queen Mary feel. Best of all, you just walk around the corner and you are in the heart of the... More

Stayed at the Horton Grand just one night; had a balcony room with fireplace. Liked the room and the comfy bed; nice view of the treetops down in the courtyard area. I love Victorian era décor, so this hotel really supplied that for me. Don't miss the bar area; very beautiful, and that's where you'll find the carved wooden staircase.... More

We arrived to a cheerful friendly swift checkin, the valet ($40 per day) took the car and we went to the room. We stayed 2 nights and really the only negative with the room was the view of a wall from next doors building.we werent there for the vista, plus it meant it was quiet. Extremely comfy bed, great nights... More

They've done a beautiful job renovating this classic. It's a great location within the Gaslamp District - restaurants everywhere, close to downtown and the waterfront. The only reason it did not get five stars was the noise level from the Palace bar.

The location is great, within the gaslamp area and downtown of san diego, very close to convention center and marina, I booked via hotwire and they said is 3.5 stars, the building is nice, the rooms are very small, and my complaint is the service, expensive valet parking and front desk is just below the average in service, hope they... We duly arrived at the Horton Grand late in the afternoon. We were welcomed by the valet parking attendant who duly emptied our car of all our luggage and packages. Onwards to reception and again were given a warm welcome. Check in was quick and painless and we were taken to our room with our luggage arriving soon after. The... More
