This is the second time I stayed at the Horton Grand Hotel. I tried to stay a third time the following week for a conference but they were booked up and I had to stay at the Hilton Bayfront. I much prefer the Horton Grand. It is important to understand a few things. This is a historic hotel and you... More

What a lovely place! We had only one night, but it won’t be our last, I’m sure. The Horton Grand claims to be “a historic retreat [with] style, class, and charm,” and it delivers beautifully. Our balcony overlooked the courtyard, which serves as the al fresco dining area for the hotel's restaurant. The room was very nice: antiques, good comfy... More

The Horton Grand Hotel is right in the center of the exciting Gaslamp district, not to mention a short walk away from many tourist sites in San Diego. The hotel itself has a quiet but friendly vibe. The rooms are a tiny bit small and outdated (the hotel is very old!) but that is part of its charm; more importantly... More

The manager at the hotel informed me of an online special that was unresistable. The hotel is downtown in walking distance to restaurants, theaters and Petco Park. Our suite was large with a fireplace and sitting room on the quieter side of the hotel. The full bar was beautiful and the appetizers delicious.

Friendly staff. Very comfortable bed. Olde world. Do not stay if you like fridge or safe in room. Wooden water closet and seat. Gilt mirror in bathroom. Can safely leave balcony door open at night. Hotel is full of historical items.

I was staying in San Diego to attend to a family emergency. The first thing I see is a valet arguing with a security guard, the valet was yelling loudly about towing a vehicle. I finally got checked in at the counter, the clerk was professional. I got to my room and it smelled of mildew. I had just arrived... More

We arrived late in San Diego after traveling for 6 hours. The hotel lobby was very sparse of people. We checked in after 40 minute wait only to have. It only carry our own bags but then we reached our "suites" to be sadly disappointed. The rooms are the size of a closet, the bedding is dingy, bathroom is no... More

This place looked like a good deal in the area we wanted to stay, Gas Lamp District in San Diego. It was an easy ride from the airport via a shuttle. The place had an old classy feel to it. A grand stair case, it took back to a different timeline. Our room was on the third floor over looking... More

I stayed at The Horton Grand Hotel for 6 nights to attend a conference. It claimed to have wifi. It didn't. On the first day I was told that they were rebooting the system and all would be up and running. On day two they said that engineers were coming in to check the problem, but that all should be... Travis H, Front Office Manager at The Horton Grand Hotel, responded to this review

Thank you for providing this valuable review. We greatly apologize that you did not receive the level of service you had expected from a property such as ours. We did in fact experience some technical difficulties, on a large scale, with our wifi network during your stay. It took some significant time to resolve and can certainly understand your frustrations.... More

Historical Horton Grand Hotel is located in the San Diego Gaslamp District one block west of the main drag through the Gaslamp. Location is quieter late at night. Hotel is historical charming, but pretty much up to date. Room is clean and well equipped. Fireplace adds to the charm, but not too much heat. Bed is comfortable and clean. Pillows... More
