My wife and two young children concluded our week long get away by spending 3 nights at the Grand Del Mar (after spending the first 3 nights at the Ritz Carlton - Laguna Niguel). I will not compare the two hotels as they both had things that made them unique and great properties. I must say; however, that my kids... more

This place deserves 5 stars. The grounds are absolutely pristine and the service is even better. The room, while a bit bigger than average for a resort, was quiet. The best part was the bathroom - it has to be 20 feet long, with two sinks, a tub, shower, closet, etc. In the room, as well as the grounds, every... more

Grand is an understatement for this resort. Everything about it is top notch. The staff has been very well trained from the first greeting to the last farewell, that is, if you ever leave. You won't want to. Food was excellent. The spa is fabulous. Rooms are lovely, large, comfortable. The golf course is a former public course but has... more

The place is luxurious and opulent. But in these economic times, most people don't like to go out of their way to spend money on things that are "grand." And The Grand Del Mar seems oblivious to this notion. The food is marginal at best and overpriced; the service is just okay and it's super spendy for a night's stay... more

First rate in every respect. Service exceeds expectations. Compares favorably with high-end European Relais & Chateaux properties we've stayed in for taste and charm. Calm, quiet, exquisite attention to detail, including the lovely and unusual landscaping along the long walks that wrap around the resort. If you want the beach or nightlife, go elsewhere, and leave this place to us.... more

My room was huge, had a large balcony overlooking the gorgeous lap pool and adult spa relaxation 'hot tub'. I didn't realize there was so much more to the resort until I took a walk around. There is a lot of detail work in the construction and decor - although some of it may be over the top, but overall... more

This is a relatively new "luxury" hotel and they have kinks to work out. The service was okay, but not at the level one should expect at this price hotel. The valet parkers did not come to greet us on arrival. They offered to provide directions on multiple occasions, but never were they able to actually provide them (had they... more

We travel often, this time with our two teenage sons, and everyone had an outstanding experience. 5 nights went by far too quickly.. The staff, concierge group, restaurant management and golf pros were all top notch . The fire pits and fireplaces are an incredible after dinner retreat... more

the grand del mar exudes luxury, opulence, and class. the architecture of the entire property is incredibly beautiful...the hotel grounds are immaculately kept and manicured. the service from check in to the pool boy are to be commended. we checked in at the front desk and the receptionist actually gave us a brief tour of the main building and escorted... more

I agree with all of the other posters- this is a gorgeous, exquisite, luxurious resort. The grounds are gorgeous, from the entry way to the lawns, wooded areas and pools. We got a great rate via Skyauction.com, and had a huge room- king size bed with luxurious linens, massive flat screen tv, two desks, tub for 2, huge bathroom with... more
