Stayed at The Sofia for a conference at the Convention Center. It was the perfect location. Just a few blocks from the Gas Lamp District. Just an 8 minute walk to the Convention Center. An easy walk to the Baseball Park (if you're a baseball fan, Petco Park is a great park). Very close to the courthouse. One block from... More

The Sofia was wonderful. The check in was a breeze, the room was small but clean and the restaurant was above average. I was able to walk almost everywhere which was a plus. Gaslamp was down the street. There was numerous restaurants in the area. I walked to the ballpark and back. I used uber to get to Sea World... More

we arrived here from san Francisco and vegas so we knew this would not be as luxurious as the last 2 but the rooms were clean but on the small side but it is a short walk to the gaslamp quarter and all the restaurants and bars one bar I would highly recommend was the house of blues 2 blocks... I usually don't do Heritage properties. They're noisy, small, often overpriced and overused, and just not made for mod cons. This was a pleasant surprise. Yes the rooms are small but designers have made the best of the space. Bed are so comfy, linen lovely, large towels. Enough space for an armchair and ottoman by the window. Plenty of plugs... More

The Sophia started life in the 1920s; a thoughtful and thorough renovation has brought modern convenience to the cozy rooms. A friend and I stayed two nights in the Sofia in early May; both rooms were on the 7th floor, and were nice and quiet (his had a view of the city, mine was in one of the light wells).... More

We have stayed in this hotel 2 times, both of them wonderful. The location is close to what we enjoy including the Gaslamp and Convention Center. The service from the valets to front desk and the housekeepers was great. The fitness room was nice though we rarely used it. The rooms are a bit on the small side but nicely... More

Stayed 4 nights. Hotel classy with great facilities. Room although small was big enough for us. Good WiFi and AC. All very clean. Would stay again. Nice bar and restaurant called currant and coffee shop underneath.

I stayed at the Sofia hotel for 5 nights with my teenage daughter. I was in san diego for a conference. Excluding the staff who were accomodating, there was nothing that I liked about the hotel. Firstly, the room is small (i upgraded to a room with a king sized bed). Normally I wouldnt complain but they sealed the windows... More

We arrived mid-morning, expecting to do a bag drop only; however the desk clerk said that, while she didn't have a double room available, given that we were both quite tall, she had a king room available immediately and would give us a free upgrade. The room was very comfortable, and came with free wifi, 2 bottles of water daily,... More

I was looking for a less expensive options while here for a conference and this was recommended by a friend. The rooms are fairly cozy, but they have the amenities needed. The staff are nice and the whole place is just quaint and cozy. Easy walk to convention center and to gaslamp district.
