Stayed at this hotel twice it is small but very friendly hotel and in a great position to all amenities especially gaslamp district, concierge extremely helpful. Rooms clean and comfortable. Trolley bus tour only minutes away which is great. I stay here prior joining cruise ship.

This is a fabulous hotel right downtown. All of the details add up to an excellent, excellent stay. The valet guys were quick and friendly, the front desk was very courteous and professional and most of all really nice, and the room we had was superb. We were automatically upgraded to a suite which is the way to go here,... More

The hotel is located at the gaslamp district, walking distance to restaurants, bars, train station, and the USS midway. The hotel offers free yoga classes (on certain days), a tours of the historic district on weekends, and free bike rental (3-hours) on a first come first serve basis (you might want to get up early for the bikes or you'll... I was here for only 1 night as I was travelling from LA. This hotel is perfect for a short trip only. Do not stay here if you want some comfort if you are staying for more than 1 day. I Found it to be extremely small. We were travelling for a week in California and had 2 suitcases with... More

I walked in my room to find a chocolate bar and a welcome card: "To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance." Not what you would find at another chain nearby! Nice lighting, classy amenities, incredibly comfortable bed, no wasted space- I could work and relax at ease. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat! And the convenience... More

Lovely historic hotel, friendly staff. Rooms were indeed small, and if the management wanted to improve this, they could remove the furniture that leaves absolutely NO room to walk around the bed. Despite a maintenance call, there was never water that could qualify as HOT in the shower. The celery and deep burgundy does the property credit. All areas kept... More

The Sofia hotel was warm, inviting and conveniently located in the Gaslamp district. The rooms were small but wonderfully decorated and always kept very clean. The additional hotel surcharge (~$10) seemed a little ridiculous at first, but the hotel offered yoga sessions in the morning and a walking tour of Gaslamp at the weekends to make it worthwhile. It was... More

Nice hotel, very close to the Gaslamp district. We stayed here for 2 days over the holidays, and it was lovely. Staff was VERY friendly, and helpful at all times. Bar downstairs was nice (didn't try the restaurant). Room was comfortable and clean, but very small. No big deal for us, as we didn't need a lot of space, but... More

We stayed one-night for a girls trip. This is a lovely historic hotel. Although our room was on the smaller side, we still had a comfortable night's sleep. The only negative is we could hear our neighbors in the next room. Their child was quite vocal early in the morning. The hotel was in close to the Gaslamp district and... More
