Having much experience with the big chain hotels this was a very nice surprise. Overall I liked the relaxed feel of the room and easy access to the general Gas Lamp District. Could use a window update to dampen street noise.

First things first - do not stay here if you need sleep or are not into the scene in the area. This hotel embodies the downtown area of San Diego - loud, friendly, and full of character. We stayed here on a Friday night and picked up the room around 5:30 PM. Total out the door was $141 for a... More

The hotel itself was very nice, loved the bed. Room was very large, loved you could open the windows. Did not like the decor, the stainless steel sink counters were too sterile, industrail looking for our taste, did'nt like the black walls in the hall ways either. Loved the exposed brick walls and the window seats were great, the couch... More

The staff was very helpful, directions & where to eat. Conveniently located to everything. Room was huge, bed was great, great view. As the rep advised they are changing out the windows. It was a bit noisy for the party goers. Breakfast was great. We would go back again. Quaint, awesome boutique hotel. Much more romantic then a "big-box" hotel.... More

Hi Denise! The Keating definitely takes pride in being Downtown's only luxury, boutique hotel. Being a 35 room property allows us to provide personalized guest service. In regards to the valet fees we do charge much less than most hotels in downtown. We like our guests to have the option of safe and secure parking in our parking garage. Thank... More

sound asleep until 2:05 AM. The bar next door closes and gathers in the room above mine. At 4 AM the noise is still going after several complaints to management. I drag myself down to the area where I can get internet access, after paying for WiFi in my room, and book a room in a different nearby hotel. Still... More

Great boutique hotel! In-room amenities were a nice surprise and the room was very comfortable. Loved the unique and personal touches. Will definitely stay at this hotel again when in the area and would highly recommend it to others!

Hotel looks downtrodden. Concrete floor in the room did not cut it. No lobby, bad workout room and way overpriced. My room was above a noisy pub but the entire neighborhood is noisy with nightlife. Furniture is dated and beat up. Cable and channel selection on TV was bad.

Hi Bruce - I am disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your stay at The Keating. You mentioned the concrete floors in the room. The floors are actually sprayed with an epoxy and are done in a "Battleship Gray" color to evoke the colors of the amazing battleships docked in San Diego's waters. The floors were installed because... More

The recommended hotels for a conference was full, and we stumbled upon this hotel by chance. It is only a 15 minute walk to the SD conference facilities. The hotel is ideally situated close to restaurants in the Gaslamp district. The streets are noisy at night, but the hotels is almost 100% sound proof. We stayed in the penthouse suite... More

Good Morning Aletta! Thank you so much for your wonderful review! You were lucky enough to have booked our Macallan Suite! The suite was designed by the fine people at Macallan Scotch. That copper wrapped tub is actually meant to reflect the copper stills that are used by Macallan to create their amazing Scotch Whiskey. You also mentioned that the building... More

I loved this hotel and the staff. The room was HUGE, modern and an oasis from the Gaslight District right outside the hotel. The staff was all-smiles. There's a jar of sunglasses in the lobby, in case you need to buy a pair. Free popcorn in the lobby and treats at night in your room are always a way to... More
