This charming B&B is conveniently located to anywhere you need to be or want to explore in San Diego and surrounding area. The rooms are perfectly equipped and comfortably relaxing for any traveler. Ann and her staff are wonderful. We loved the personal touch Ann delivered, her attention to detail, and her warm hospitality. I will enthusiastically recommend the Hillcrest... More

My son has spent the past 7 years working on his Ph.D. at UCSD and we have used the Hillcrest House Bed and Breakfast as our base of operations on visits. We have had at least 7 visits over the years, probably more. The Hillcrest House has become our home away from home in San Diego. We have stayed in... More

My husband and I spent a week at the bungalow with our 2 friends and we had an amazing time. The house was clean and was very close to all of the restaurants and bars in Hillcrest. Quiet street and very close to Balboa park. If we ever go back to San Diego, we would highly consider staying here again!

You know the feeling after a long day of travel, be it air plane, automobile, or just exploration of an area and when you're finally ready to calm down, you dream of the finest place to rest your head? Well, that was Hillcrest House. Every little amenity, like the parking lot to helpful ktchen and welcoming decor, made that rest... More

Frankly, we were quite disappointed. The first time staying at a bed and breakfast, we expected that a gourmet breakfast was the attraction. I hardly consider cold hard boiled eggs, fruit, cold cereal, toast and juice a gourmet breakfast, We missed getting any hot items and went away hungry and disgusted. Ann was friendly when we came, but disappeared the... More

Sir, to be frank and polite, I believe your disappointment was due to your assumption that all Bed & Breakfast, Hotels, and other accommodations are alike. I understand it was your 1st visit to a B&B, but just like a Hotel or Vacation Rental, reading all the valuable information on a properties website, may assist you better on making a... More

Stayed here based on previous reviews and were not disappointed! Ann and her team are extremely welcoming and attentive. It was a joy to linger over breakfast and enjoy conversation with Ann, Don, Dawn, and the other guests. There is a lovely veranda on which to relax with a morning coffee, and we finished each day with a relaxing glass... More

Thanks for your comments. May and June are wonderful months for any outdoor activity. Love, Love, Love sitting on the front porch in the mornings with my coffee too! The hummingbirds, are really active in the garden right now, and never disappoint by making a showing each morning. Hope to see you back again, soon. Cheers, Ann More

We stayed at Hillcrest House for 2 nights during a brief stay in San Diego. The location is in really good - we could walk to restaurants nearby for dinner which was a nice change from being in the car. Ann is a lovely and thoughtful host. Loved the tiny muffins and beautiful/delicious fresh fruit for breakfast. If you need... More

Thanks for the review. It's always great to hear how quiet this neighborhood is despite our urban location. Walking to Restaurant Row, as you did, is a huge benefit of a location that is in the City Center. Have a great summer, and again thanks for taking the time to write! Cheers, Ann More

Hillcrest House is a lovely B&B located within walking distance of the Hillcrest shopping and restaurant area, uptown from the busy downtown core of San Diego. We would stay again! We parked our car in the paved alley behind the house and left it parked until we left the following day, which was superb. Ann was friendly and openly giving... More

Thank you so much for the stellar review! Before our massive renovation, the Cottage behind the Main House was once a 2br house. The Scudder Family had it lifted off it's foundation from North Park, the next neighborhood over, and brought it onto the property back in 1946 for the Scudder Family Aunt, and the family Nunn...no seriously, I"m not... The facility is charming, location couldn't be better, and the owner is very friendly and helpful. Ann went out of her way to be sure we had everything we needed. This is our new place to stay in San Diego.

My wife and I planned an evening in Balboa Park, so we picked a B&B nearby - we couldn't have been more pleased with our stay at Ann's. The location is great for walking to the Hillcrest area, and Ann is a warm and gracious host. Our breakfast was healthly, and the cleanliness was beyond spotless (if there is such... More

Thank you for the raving review. Housekeeping is always a challenge, with the volume of guests we host every week. They say...be careful what you wish for...with the excellent weather we have in San Diego, and windows open all year long letting the warm, fresh air in...and dust on the coffee table, it keeps us busy !!!! Hope to see... More
