We stayed for 3 nights and everything was absolutely perfect. Our room was the Balboa and is the smallest room, however, it was perfect for 2 people, with a nice closet and good sized bathroom. The Balboa is in a separate cottage and the privacy was great. Our hostess and inn owner Ann was wonderful, gave us great restaurant recommendations... more

Myself, and two other buddies, stayed at Hillcrest House, and had a great time. We stayed in the rooms in the Cottage, and it felt like we had our own little house to relax in. The place was immaculate, and parking was plentiful. The house is almost 100 years old, and the rooms were not large, but were comfortable, and... more

What a lovely time we had at Hillcrest House. I met my mother there (we are both in different cities) for a girls weekend and the setting was just perfect. Gracious service by our lovely hostess Anne was one of the things that makes this place stand head and shoulders above the rest. Delicious breakfast, a great selection on dvds,... more

I was so impressed that I never wanted to leave. Who doesn't want to wake up to the smell of fresh muffins? The house is so warm and full of character. The rooms were clean and inviting.....such a peaceful place to rest. The host went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and was so informative about the area... more

Tucked into a quiet side street just off University Avenue in the Hillcrest neighborhood, Hillcrest House was perfect for our two-day stay in San Diego. Innkeeper Ann Callahan was a delighful and informative host. She knows every restaurant, store, and attraction in the area, and her recommendations were spot on. The house and our room were beautifully appointed. Ordinarily I... more

I stayed in the Gaslight room while in San Diego by myself for a medical conference at the Hyatt. The room was small but pleasantly furnished. The area has a nice selection of restaurants within easy walking distance. I had a rental car - parking was free and plentiful, and the location was convenient for everything. I would return to... more

The B&B is situated in the Hillcrest area of San Diego, 2 minutes walk to great restaurants, bars and take-a-ways. The B&B is coming up to its centenary, it is welcoming, informal and Ann the owner creates a home from home atmosphere. Breakfast is buffet style of toast, yoghurt, cereal, juice and fresh homemade muffins. I had the Balboa room... more

It was home for my family, that included my husband and three year old daughter. Ann and her staff were so welcoming and it's great to find an inn that graciously accepts young children! Ann's staff went overboard to offer dining suggestions for lunch (while I was at my meetings) within walking distance and dinner to suit our penchant for... more

Ann was a great host; exceptionally helpful with advice for seeing the city, and with assistance in helping us locate baggage lost by the airline. Our room was spotless and the breakfast was fantastic. We would not hesitate to stay there again. more
