I stayed here right before the holidays and this place is just nasty. I'm surprised the health department doesn't close this place down. There was a moment where the fridge which is a community fridge didn't work and they didn't even let the guest know, plus there was a roach in the fridge. When I went to put my food... More

The good: Great location, close to downtown Couple of grocery stores very nearby Rooftop patio Friendly staff Lots of private bathrooms, a couple look they were redone recently, gorgeous tile! The Bad: Uncomfortable bunk beds Very hot room (they do have a ceiling fan so they are trying - it's an old building!) The Ugly: Tiny kitchen; one stove, 2... More

Great location and affordable for SD, but it's not cheap. For two dorm beds I think we paid $54 where a cheap hotel is $70ish. Check in was a hassle, but staff was for the most part friendly and cracked a few jokes. Came at 11am, was told check in is not until 2pm. Came back at 3 and we... More

Our check in was the longest process- the guy at the desk was nice but pretty hopeless. He kept us waiting on several occasions as he sits flicking through his emails and gets totally distracted- weird. The other staff were great though. All backpackers tempory staff- up for a laugh and drink. The facilities weren't great, beds super uncomfortable with... More

Checked in and had to hit the ATM as they don't take cards. Came back after hours and had to pay the next day, and the staff member I dealt with didn't seem to be very friendly. He wanted to charge me a late fee for not tracking them down to pay earlier, he insisted I'd have to change rooms,... More

Pretty cheap accomodation, and as a result don't expect too much. Dorm rooms pretty small, bottom bunks very uncomfortable (can feel each individual metal slat when you are sleeping). Rooms downstairs get really noisy - particularly if you are close to the kitchen (be prepared to be awake all night..) About a 15 minute walk from GasLamp. Hotel staff are... More
