This hotel rates at one of the nicest in San Diego in my book. All around great place. Great location. Nice room. Great staff. Nice bar!! It is higher end so price maybe a little higher but it's worth it.

Amazing little pool bar and great rooms! Right smack in the middle of amazing cafe's, restaurants, pubs and bars! It was our first time to SD and we will 100% be back! People are so amazing in this town and everything feels so clean and organized. Wish I lived there instead of in Canada and our wonderful winters....

We were shocked that there was so much to do on a Wednesday night and how late things were open. Our room was beautiful, we faced the city and the roof top deck. The room was perfect, a king bed with many treats to make you feel like you were home. Really beautiful property with a wonderful attentive staff. Very... More

Returned to the Solamar in 2014 and instead of staying for just one night during Comic-Con, we were here from Wednesday to Sunday. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful -- even going beyond the call of duty! A friend had left an item at the front desk for me while I was away and it wasn't placed in the... More

The Hotel is a slice of heaven in downtown SD. This was my second stay at the property and I can say with all confidence I love it. The decor is upbeat and stylish while not being overdone. The lobby is inviting and well laid out. The staff is exceptional and the valets parking cars remembered my name in spite... More

Hotel is in a great location. It's blocks away from the convention center, a block away from the landmark breakfast spot The Broken Yolk, the shops and restaurants are within minutes. The restaurant next to the hotel also serves good food. Rooms are clean, wine and local beer are served in the evening. There is construction but I didn't hear... More

Last week I had the privilege of visiting the city of San Diego for the first time. Having never been, I really didn't know what to expect; I wasn't let down!! In town for business (as usual, hence the title of this review), I was booked at Kimpton's, Hotel Solamar in downtown San Diego. Not only was this my first... More

If you are a light sleeper, you may want to stay somewhere else. The Solamar is now surrounded by new noisy construction projects. On the side, back and front of the hotel! Noise can start as early as 7:00am, yikes. If you don't mind constant construction noise then this hotel could work out for you. The staff is friendly and... More

I was attending an event at the hotel and it was a great place for it! Clean hotel, perfectly located for everything you would need to do downtown. Restaurants, bars, entertainment within walking distance. My only suggestion is to constantly check room rates. I did not and ended paying about twice what my friends paid who kept track and checked... More

This was probably one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. It was a family trip and the moment we stepped in, we were treated like royalty (which we are not) One of the housekeepers (Elena) was the nicest lady. She treated our little 15 months girl like a princess and even got her a few dresses as... More
