I was very pleased with this hotel (especially considering the great deal I found). The decor throughout was trendy yet classy. I didn't have much contact with the hotel staff other than the basic checking in and out but from that bit I was pleased. Each staff member was welcoming, friendly, and personable. Even the cleaning ladies in the hallways... more

This was a wonderful place to stay. Very clean and we had no complaints. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the rooms very nice. The pool area fun...during the day swimming, tanning with poolside drinks and eats...during the evening it becomes an attractive lounge which is also popular with the locals. We had read tips about possible noise,... more

The Hotel has a great location with great decor but it operates with ZERO emphasis on customer service. Visiting with family for anniversary gathering, our experience was ruined by a staff which failed to uphold and provide service consistent with Kimpton Hotel's Mission Statement and Values. The pool lounge ran by a Mr. Holland was very inconsistent in how they... more

Booked this hotel last minute via Hotwire at a fantastic rate after reading terrible reviews of the Holiday Inn Mission Bay that we were previously booked into. This was our first time in San Diego and the hotel gave us a fantastic first impression. Fancy, modern lobby. Modern, spacious and comfortable rooms. Reminded us a lot of the Huntley at... more

hi - just got back from staying there. Small rooms and they do have a frig in each room - BUT their stuff is in there so if you are like me and take your own dog food, waters, yogurt,etc... - just keep it all in your own ice chest. The parking is steep at 32 a night - BUT... more

The Solamar has a real beachside feel for a hotel located in the middle of the city. It is laid back and spaced out and really top notch. They put a lot of effort into the smaller things here to really lift your stay above the average. The wine and cheese tasting in the evening and free tea and coffee... more

I chose this hotel for a business trip for myself and my boss; we stayed just one night in San Diego, but he & I both love this type of modern hotel. It did not disappoint! Fast easy check-in, super fast valet parking ($32/nt.), great rooms with gorgeous decor and super comfortable beds. Free wireless internet! Really cool bathrooms with... more

We had four adults and one toddler in our party. We had a room with two queen beds and then added a crib and it was a bit cramped. The hotel decor and staff made us completely forget we were crammed into our room. The hotel staff is exceptional. They make you feel like you're someone special from the moment... more

Stayed at the Hotel Solamar for about four nights. We enjoyed our stay and would return to the hotel. The room was a decent size with decent closet space and nice decor the chaise was a plus. The hotel offered a complimentary tea hour in the morning and wine hour in the evening. The rooftop pool area/lounge was spacious and... more
