Just checking out of this hotel after a 3-day stay. Very nice location - in the Gaslamp district, close to restaurants and walking distance to the Convention Center. First thing to notice was the large number of folks with dogs - some with several. It is a pet-friendly hotel! The idea that the bed I slept in would have been... More

The lobby is great. The staff was nice. But when you go to the floors it smells like an old Vegas hotel. And I was placed in front of a building that was being built. So I had this view the entire time. As a female traveling alone it's not the view I wanted. I wish they would have told... More

Room fine overlooking the pool area. Bit noisy as had functions there but these didn't go on too late. This hotel is in a great downtown location, close to the buzzy restaurants and nightlife. Enjoyed my stay but think the parking is rather too much at 45$ a day when parking in the car park a block away is only... More

First thing: great location! The hotel is in the area where everything happens: lots of bars, restaurants nearby. Room was ok, bed was comfortable. Reception staff was efficient and helpful. They gave us discount cards to other restaurants in the area. Pool was nice too. In the morning they offer free coffee in the reception. We stayed 2 nights and... More

I'm writing this review on behalf of my parents; they arrived at the Solamar on their 35th wedding anniversary, as part of their trip around California. I contacted the hotel to inform them that it was their 35th anniversary, and the staff were just wonderful. Crystal in particular was fantastic, she emailed immediately and organised everything. My parents were over... More

Our room was beautiful, nice amenities, very clean. Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were sent to our room free of charge to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Check out time was 12, which allowed us to take our time the next morning rather than rush out. The hotel is in the Gaslamp district, so restaurants and shops are within walking... More

I stayed at the Solamar for 6 consecutive nights and the boutique hotel was FABULOUS! The restaurant and location of the property in the Gaslamp District made the location perfect for walking to Petco Field, the Waterfront and numerous dining options. It was also close to the Train Station, which allowed me to see the area without the benefit of... More

Chic and trendy concept. Nice location. The reception staff are very professional. The flip side was housekeeping staff / groundsmen who could use some training not to stare and joke at people (in a different language) when guests are in the pool. It was interesting that the do not disturb sign could not be located by housekeeping. Park in ACE... More

Our mini vacation in San Diego was A•mazing! Hotel Solamar's cozy/chic was much welcomed after a day of zoo exhaustion. The kids spent hours in the room's spa tub and enjoyed the rooftop pool. This parent enjoyed the contemporary decor, fantastic food and proximity to the local attractions. The hotel staff are very friendly, accommodating and efficient. We will be... More

This hotel is perfectly positioned in San Diego. Ideal for the countless bars and restaurants in the Gaslamp district, practically next to Petco Baseball Park and a few minutes from the Coronado ferry. I had an issue with the bar staff completely ignoring me one night, really not doing their job properly as I waited 10 minutes to get served... More
